TacoCat’s Travels (Finland) #4: First day of school!
12 March 2018. Monday.
It's the first day of school for us here at Aalto University, Mikkeli! The campus itself is actually pretty small; it's just two 3-storey buildings, even smaller than our NUS business school. I guess that's to be expected since the cohorts here are like 4x smaller too.

The 2 buildings are just across the road from each other too so it's really convenient. In NUS we have 2 big ass buildings and a library and it takes some time walking from one end to the other.

Anyway, we were taking different classes for this first module but they were at the same time (9am-12pm) so we were in different classrooms for 3 hours. My classroom was so cool because there were desktops hidden underneath it and you could flip it open to use them if you didn't have a laptop!
The main building also had quite a few study rooms for students to have group discussions, or just hangout. Some of them had desktops, some even had a TV in them! It made me wish I had brought my Switch dock so we could hook it up and play in school. 😕
After class we met up for lunch in the cafeteria and it was buffet-style, kinda like how they're always shown in American TV shows. So there's a set menu every day that included salad, bread, a main dish, some carbs and gravy/soup. Tbh it wasn't that great, but it's cheap and convenient so we ate there just a few times. Most times we would go home after school to cook lunch.
We cooked rice w hot dogs, steamed egg and boiled vegs w potatoes!
