How Sears Lost the American Shopper --- Lessons for Us Today

in #steempress5 years ago (edited)

The retail giant SearsHad been an American icon for many years. The catalog that they produced became the buying guide for many in America. We would look at pictures and desire to purchase Christmas gifts, holiday gifts, birthday gifts, and other items that we wanted ourself. This was THE catalog to use when you wanted to wish and dream of getting the necessities of life. Their catalog was like the Internet back in the 20th Century for many.

How did this American giant crumble? What did they do wrong in their timeAnd what can we learn from that? What principles that they embrace can we still use today and into the future? What mistakes did they make that we can avoid now and into the future? What could have been done differently that would have altered their trajectory?

In this video I share an article from the Wall Street Journal thatGoes in depth by talking to people who knew what was going on.This can be very instructive for us for today and for the principals it illustrates going forward.

Please share this with others so that they can benefit also from this important lesson.Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

I used to work there and I can tell you that #Shop your Way" club did nothing but slow the lines down when people were trying to checkout.

I put forward so many ideas, but I've never seen a company more resistant to change...
