Unplanned Trips Are Often The Best One

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

Did you ever make a spontaneous decision to go somewhere and decided just go with the flow?

That's what I did today.

Kota Belud is an hour and a half drive from Inanam, Kota Kinabalu. Kota Belud is a small town, located in the West Coast of Sabah. Hometown to the 'Cowboys of the East' - the Bajau people, Kota Belud is also known as a stopover to en route Kudat or Mantanani Island.

I was thinking since it was Sunday, all of us should go for a road trip to Kota Belud and visit the famous 'tamu' (Sunday market).

It was already 10 am when I mentioned this @danieldoughty. Since we do not know what time the tamu will be close, we quickly hit the road as soon as possible.

It was a lovely day for a road trip despite the hot weather in KK. The traffic flows very smoothly and without knowing it, we already arrived at the tamu of Kota Belud. The main area was closed due to upgrades but that didn't stop us from roaming around outside the main area and check out what can we get and bring something back home.

We spent almost an hour at the tamu before we all decided it is time to go.

'Sigup kirai' - Dried palm leaves and tobacco. The local cigarettes.

Our next mission is to find something to eat. We've found this cool restaurant under a bridge called D'Jetty Kuala Abai and decided to give it a try.

Not only this is a restaurant, it is also a place where the public can come and test their fishing skills.

After having our late lunch, we've decided to return back to Inanam.

But we couldn't leave the place just like that without having a dessert?

The king of fruits - durian and rambutans

And the best part while we enjoyed having our durians? The view of Mount Kinabalu 😊

It was indeed a long day but I've enjoyed every bit of it. I guess unplanned trips are often the best one. 😁

Looks like an awesome adventure. I do agree that unplanned trip often turn to be the best and memorable ones. I will have to see kota Kinabalu one day!

Oh, you should. There are more interesting places to explore and I can assure you, you won't get dissapointed.

Will do @macchiata. Thank you.

I love the tamu experience . Have only visited the one near my MIL home in Kuala Penyu.

Oh, maybe you should experience it again when you are here next month. Gaya street Sunday market in KK.
