The other POP culture

Since 2010 the magazine HEY which is about modern art & pop culture pursued their goal to discover new worlds and put the work of their creators in the spotlight.
A couple of years ago they started to organize expositions to make visible this part of contemporary art that normally was despised by the critics.
The show that I'm talking about is their fourth edition, taking place at the museum Halle Saint Pierre in Paris.

There are 36 artists exposed and all together they explore the notion of pop iconology, kind of "outsider pop" as Anne de Hey, one of the cofounders of HEY and curator of the expo, called it. It is always with great pleasure to stroll through these expos and appreciate the powerful way that the works are shown here.
All these materialized visions of immaterial elements are possessed of some spirit or another...walking through this expo a kind of sorcery is at work and when you're leaving the place you have the feeling of having been bewitched by the artists. That changes from so many of the other shows that you leave with the feeling of being bored all the way.

To have a preference for the particular over the average is a step to the side that changes your point of view and put's into question the common frame of reference, shared by most.
