Wiener Philharmonic 2019 Silver???
So, I've been putting in the occasional low bids (no more than a fraction above the spot price) for various coins and bars on eBay. Most of the time I get trumped pretty quickly, but sometimes something goes through. So far, I haven't had anything too suspicious... but this week, I'm getting some kit together (mostly an accurate weighing machine) to start testing the specific gravity of the coins that I've been getting via eBay. It isn't many, but it is good to start testing as it appears there are a few dodgy operators out there (I'm seeing one guy keep posting the same coin (with same COA number) over and over and over..... hmmm!
Anyway, it is quite possible that some of the coins that I've bought via this route are fakes... but it is better to know now (and to try and get a refund from either the seller or PayPal) instead of getting burnt badly if I ever try to resell the coin.
So, this nice little 2019 Weiner Philharmonic came in recently... which finished the auction at 8.50 euro plus 2 euro in shipping. Which is significantly less than what I was expecting it to go for. I had bought a 2018 coin of the same type from a reputable dealer (goldsilver.be) at around the 15-16 euro mark. Anyway, this was enough to set alarm bells ringing... did I get lucky? Or more likely, did I buy a fake?
So, thus the slight kick in the arse to get a specific gravity test going. So, I've ordered a weighing machine from Amazon (yay for Prime!) so that I can start testing perhaps tomorrow. I have a few others that I've bought second hand which I want to test as well...
Anyway, the coin seems okay with the ping test and the magnets... so now I need one more test to be a little surer about it (or NOT!).

Yes , they are not cheap. But in 2014 I did not have "international" experience.
