Pirate Sunday 200 year old coin stash.
I found some more toned coins in my house clean-up. These three were in a bag with some other random coins for a couple of years, it's odd that they coloured up while in storage.
Here we have a penny from the Bank of Upper Canada from 1852. Canada did not become a country until 1867.
Here is a half penny from 1850, also from the Bank of Upper Canada.
Lastly another half penny from 1812! What a life these coins must have led, I wonder how many people have spent these pieces?
They're fairly dark so it was difficult to get a quality shot of them with my Samsung Galaxy S6. I bought them each seperatly from eBay about 3 or 4 years ago for just a couple of dollars each.

These are awesome, they have a kind of beauty even in the tarnished condition they are in - are they worth more like this or is it possible to clean them up? Just wondering if they would be more valuable all shiny like brand new again.

Never ever clean old coins! It will destroy the finish and make them worthless. However these old things are in bad shape and don't have much value so I could clean them and lose the fantastic toning(colouring) that actually may add value. Confusing...

Old coins sure have a character to them as well as a history. A nice add to the collection.
Upper Canada, never knew that before. How was the other part called? Lower Canada or USA?
Yeah there was a lower Canada, and a central bank overlooking both. Its kind of confusing and the tale starts with trading cards in France...
