How I Antique My Poured Silver.
Hello steemers, Today i want to share with you the step by step process of antiquing poured silver. I learned how to do this from watching Youtube videos and community silver pourers. The process is really simple if you have the right stuff. There are many ways to do this but this is how i do it. These are the things you need to get started. You need some liver of sulfur, glass of "Hot" water, baking soda, and a glass vessel.
First make sure you have a glass container that is large enough to hold enough solution to cover and surround the pieces you are antiquing. This time we are antiquing a 1 ounce Atlantis mint Dragon design poured silver bar.
Next is making the toning solution. Add most of the glass of ''Hot'' water and a teaspoon of liver of sulfur. That's all you need and your ready to go.
Now for the fun part. Just ease the bar into the solution and watch the magic start.
The toning happens pretty fast, so keep a close eye on it. NOTE The hotter the water the faster the reaction is.
Make sure to flip the piece over a few times to get even toning from front to back.
On this bar i'm going for a darker look so i will leave it in a bit longer.
When the color is to your liking, like this one remove bar from solution.
With the rest of the water, mix in one teaspoon of baking soda. Put bar in warm baking soda solution to neutralize the chemical reaction. Take bar out and towel or pat dry
Here's the before and after comparison.
To finish the antiquing process you need to polish or brush the high surfaces depending on desired look. I'm going with the polished look for this dragon bar. I wanted the antiquing to bring out the design and details.
Hope you enjoyed going through the antiquing process as i know it. Thanks for stopping by and viewing. I am a proud member of the #steemsilvergold and @ssg-community.

Dude! Great post!
That bar looks fantastic you antiqued. I am trying to zoom in to see if I can tell the difference between this process and natural patina. Man thats tough...
Nice work !
Thanks, the polish high spots sometimes in the light out shines the dark lower areas.
That was a really cool process to watch @firecajun9262!!! I'm not sure which version I like better - they're both pretty! hehehee
