Tiny Penny

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago

My coin shop guy threw this in when I bought some silver the other day. He said it wasn't worth anything to him, and I always like odd things like this, so I was happy to take it off his hands. For some size context, it's in a 2x2 flip.

It's hard to tell any details, but one side has a head with either a crown or a feather head dress. The other side has a building. Maybe the Capitol Building? I can't really tell.

And now for some grainy close-ups. This was the best I could do with my phone.

That big (tiny) black spot is on the coin, not the holder. <frownyface.emoji>

Anyone ever seen one of these? I've seen novelty small cents before, but not this tiny, and usually they look more like actual pennies. This is so tiny I'm not sure what it would actually be useful for. Maybe a doll set or something?

Cool baby Indian. Never saw one before

I don't know what coin that is. That's a tiny penny... here's a photo of an Indian Head Penny which were minted from 859 to 1909 from Google images:

The head certainly looks similar. That must be what that side was modeled after. Thanks!

If we went back to using Gold Coinage, we'd need a Magnifying Glass to see a One Cent Coin...

That's why we need U.S. Clad Coinage, U.S. Paper Coinage, and U.S. Crypto/Digital Coinage...

All backed by U.S. Bullion Coinage... Face Value for Face Value... I call it, "Sound Money"...
