I bought this 1921 British Half Crown at the LCS recently, but it's got this weird white powder on one side. Anyone know what this is? What should I do about it? Acetone dip maybe?

Here's the back side.

Yeah, I think you'd be OK dipping it, or brushing it... It's not going to grade high. I know, don't clean coins, but whatever, open it up and brush it off, or rub it off with your thumb, I mean it's been handled for almost a hundred years so what's one more handling?

You could wash it with soft soap and water maybe?

If it is another metal (due to long contact to another coin) you may have problems getting it of. So best to leave as is. (Or electrolyse it to have fun with alufoil, baking soda and boiling water on top)

A quick dip in a sonic cleaner would knock off the dirt and not the toning, I get lots of these half crowns in similar condition.
