# 132 - Grant

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

Continuing our series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the 1922 "Grant".

As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.

This coin commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the birth of President Ulisses S. Grant.

On the obverse is the bust of General Grant in military uniform, adapted from a photograph by Mathew Brady.

The reverse showed the fenced clapboard house where Grant lived as a boy.

A total of 67,405 coins were distributed. The actual price is around U$500.00 in this grade.

This series will continue very soon.

I never really got into the commem's but you are making me think twice. They really are some great looking coins. Thanks for sharing your collection.

I love commems, for they are all different ones, even when commemorating the same fact.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. You must have a great coin collection.

I always wanted to get into it but because I move often it hard for me.

To this point I only have some old $1 Canadian in paper, never been circulated and few of them are in service number

I don't know anything about notes and I have been collecting coins for more than 40 years. Thanks for your comment.

Grant was elected president of USA in 1868, the youngest man to hold the position at the time. He also created the Department of Justice.

Very cool coin!

According to Q. David Bowers, "He did not serve with distinction and his terms are remembered as corrupt and graft-ridden".

I just read about Ulysses Grant, would you believe! I have a greater appreciation for this commemorative half dollar coin because I know more about this 18th President of the United States! Thanks for sharing!

You are always welcome.
