# 217 - Congress Half Dollar
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Half Dollar series, we will present you today the 1989 "Congress" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 11.34g with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was minted to mark the 200th anniversary of the operation of Congress under the U.S. Constitution.
The obverse of the coin depicts a close up of the bust of Thomas Crawford’s Statue of Freedom, which is found at the peak of the Capital Dome.
The reverse of the coin features is a full view of the Capitol Building accentuated with a pattern of seven stars above and three stars to each side below.
A total of 767,897 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$8.00. The actual price is around U$265.00 in this grade.
