in #steemsilvergold5 years ago (edited)

Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1995 "Track & Field" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.

All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.

They will be presented in the order they were minted.

This coin was issued as part of an ambitious range of commemorative coins issued for the XXVI Olympiad Summer Games held in Atlanta, Georgia.

The obverse of the coin was designed by John Mercanti of the United States Mint and features two sprinters running towards the finish line.

The reverse features a design used in common for all of the 1995 Olympic Silver Dollars issued. This portrays the clasped hands of two athletes. The joined hands represent the brotherhood and team spirit of the Olympic Games.

A total of 136,935 coins were minted in Philadelphia. The issue price was U$34.95. The actual price is around U$500.00 in this grade.

This series will continue very soon.

The Atlanta Olympic series has many beautiful coins. I love sports on coins.

You are right. They issued coins about the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1995 and 1996. That means that you will see a few half-dollars and dollars, all about sports.

@ronaldoavelino the coin design is beautidul but I actually think the reverse is ome of the most beautiful done. Showing strength and brotherhood ann in one simple design. Thanks for sharing!!

I am happy that you liked it and thanks for the visit.

Damn Rono! Laying down the gems like a mofo!

My friend, after 40 years collecting commemorative coins, I can show now many top coins. Thanks for the visit.

That's a nice looking coin, I like Track & Field the best out of all the events I like to watch it, cheers mate.

I like to watch the discus, the javelin and the hammer. To tell the truth, I like all athletic competition. Cheers.

Nice. It's certainly gotten a price hike since bring issued !!

Do you buy commemorative rounds in multiples trying to see which ones will increase in value, to resell the extra pieces ?

No, I only buy one of each commemorative series that I collect. I try to buy the highest grade that I can afford. I am not a stacker, I am a collector that is beginning to stack.
