# 312 - In Ancient Egypt
Last November, when I was in Toronto, I found this bar in a Local Coin Shop.
It is a product of Monarch Precious Metals, the Egyptian Relic Series. It is the Anubis Jackal Silver Bar.
This bar was made to look like ancient stone relics chipped off the side of a tomb. No two bars are exactly alike as they have been purposely hand struck off center and given an application of "antique" patina along with an "anti-polish" to add to the look of old world charm.
The obverse feature depicts Jackal headed Anubis at work over a fallen pharaoh's remains. This is highly fitting, as Anubis is the god most closely associated with mummification practice and the soul's journey into the afterlife. This high relief design is accompanied by an atmospheric score of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
The reverse imagery, evocative of the complex imagery evident in ancient Egypt’s mighty tombs and temples, features the Jackal headed god Anubis, in both mortal and immortal form. Also on the reverse, an array of hieroglyphs, as well as details of metal content, weight and purity.

There are several rounds/bars with Ancient Egypt motives, made by different private mints. This is just one of them.
These Monarch Egyptian silver is pretty cool, I got one from Silver Mac on YouTube and the crude style and antiquing definitely gives it character.
I like it. I wonder if the drawings are real hieroglyphs and what do they mean...
