The beast from the East!steemCreated with Sketch.

Over the years I have certainly been drawn into tge tier 1 -collectable silver ingots. Typically they are in the more popular 10oz and 5oz weight classes. It's not often where you see an ingot over 1kg carry very strong premiums.

I want to share a bar that is very unique in its own way. Aside from its jaw dropping size. There are not many known examples! If I were to guess the reason. I would say during the silver spikes dealers and refiners were melting these larger ingots like crazy. When silver was at its highs majority of collectors didn't exist. In return, off to the melting pot!

^ Engelhard Australia 5kg Silver Ingot. Allengelhard.com estimates the mintage at <2500.

I believe they placed a higher mintage on this class because of how many 1kg Engelhard Australia ingots were produced. Figuring the 1kg ingots had been used for industrial purposes. One would assume that the 'big brother' ingot had to have a decent production number as well.

Fast forward from the production days to now. With the silver spikes over the past 30yrs. These 5kg Engelhard ingots are hardly seen! In fact, this is one of two that I have ever seen!

^Yes, this is a side shot of the ingot. Surely big enough to be confused with the reverse side of a 100oz JM.

^ It would only make sense to show some comparable photos. To get the reader to really understand the shear size. Here is the 5kg Engelhard paired with a 1000g/1kg Harringtons Metallurgist PTY silver ingot. Both ingots here were produced out of Australia during the early 1980s. Harringtons are a great investment right now. Of course, when your able to find them. I will save that story for another time though.

In conclusion, the 5kg Engelhard ingot is an exception to the unwritten high premium guidelines. With out any recorded sales it is difficult to place a specific value on something like this. I will assure you it will not be be a single digit nunber above spot !

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

Those are huge!!! I can understand why they are not seen very often because they are so heavy, people do not want to carry them out to show off. haha!

That's a valid point🤘

I am amazed by your last photo. It is hard to believe that the bigger bar is only five times the weight of the smaller bar...

I thought it would be a great comparable photo to highlight the in hand size !

Damn dude, Lol i hope you have a good foundation on our house. That would crack my slab.

Lol! Could definitely use it for a bicep work out..
