#steemsilvergold Community Vote - All MEMBERS PLEASE READ

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemsilvergold, yesterday i put out a post asking for idea's about a community curation trail and i got a little feedback in the comments and some on discord as well. It's time for a good old #steemsilvergold community vote

Should steemsilvergold have a mandatory curation trial?

Before any details are ironed out and we start talking about how to arrange such a thing (not that much work), we need to figure out if the community wants this are not. We have around 170 members so i would expect at least 100 votes but would be happy with 50 votes. We normally set a min percentage of members to vote for the vote to be confirmed but with steemit not as busy as it was a few months back we can keep it simple and say most votes yes/no wins. To mix thing up a little the voting will be done on the community discord server. I think most of our members are already joined up to discord and this way a 3rd party is collecting votes and we can ensure no missed votes. Voting will last for 72 hours.

The idea

A community curation trail was something that the #steemsilvergold would have preferred over a community upvoting bot. It used to be part of #steemsilvergold joining requirements to follow and upvote everyone else on the membership list but as the community grew this became a hard task with having to maintain and upvoting members posts. The whole rule sort of faded away and has been forgot about. The whole point of #steemsilvergold was to support each other but only half the community use's Precious and that means half are getting nothing. If we had a community curation trail, every single member would benefit from it. There would be no min upvotes required giving members the choice to upvote whatever percentage they like.

Whats different between Precious and a curation trail?

Precious has been set up and become a paid for subscription bot exclusive to #steemsilvergold members. A curation trail would upvote all #steemsilvergold member posts and everyone that followed that curation trail would vote on the same posts. In a nutshell, by joining the curation trail, you are upvoting everyone in the community. In return you will receive an upvote from every member that joins the curation trail. Hence the should we make it mandatory are not vote

Why make it mandatory?

When you join #steemsilvergold, there is no ongoing commitment to the community and this is a great way to show your support for a very small price. This community was set up on the basis that not only did we become the number 1 precious metals community on steemit ( ✔,done) but we would also excel in terms of supporting each other by means of resteems, upvotes and comments. We do very well against other communities when we look at the tag stat numbers but they could be better and i no we do better. It's a one time set up and forget about it jobbie to commit and help.

Ok, so how does it work?

Each user of steemit get x10 max upvotes per day which works out to 1000%. We have around 170 members in #steemsilvergold. I would ballpark guess that 100 members post everyday at most. You have 1000% of upvotes to use everyday. If you joined the curation trail and set your upvote to 1% and 100 members posted everyday, you would use x100 1% upvotes everyday. This would leave you with 900% of upvotes are x9 max upvotes for the reminder of that day.

Vote submitted.

@silverstackeruk I want you to know that I do appreciate your attempts to strengthen the group.

I am the type of person though who is not going to add my support to an initiative unless the details are worked out first.

So leaving my comment here to spark thoughtful reflection on the idea before people cast their votes.

I voted no. This is why.

Many communities/accounts have upvote trails. Curie, steemit world map, travel feed, Illuminati inc, ANZUB.... none of these upvote trails are mandatory. People opt in. Steemusa and teamaustralia accounts upvote every post by their members. Some people delegate to these accounts to add weight to the vote. Some join the account’s voting trail. I delegate small SP to each.

Accounts like travel feed, curie and c-squared manually curate before the upvote trail is unleashed. For example steemit world map looks at all the posts under their tag. Currators nominate the best ones to get a vote by their trail. These are presented in one big post similar to the guilty parties ssg post.

I do not support a mandatory requirement of being on a vote trail. Especially if it is not manually curated. If a diverse group of ssg members act as curators to select the best METAL related posts to receive a trail of ssg votes that is great and something I would consider supporting with a delegation or MAYBE by adding my vote. It seems a lovely idea.

However, SSG is made up of people with a diverse set of ideologies for non metal related topics. I will not allow my vote to be used to upvote values and ideas that go against my own. Additionally, I would not expect others to add their vote to my posts just because I am ssg if I have shared an idea that goes against another person’s core beliefs.

People are free to post and believe what they wish, and it is great when people with diverse ideologies on other topics can be united in their similarities. In our group’s case thr enjoyment of precious metals is our commonality. But even with people I like, I am not upvoting their posts if I disagree with the opinion they have shared. Being on a vote trail would allow this to happen.

Thank you for using CryptoSicko the sickest delegation and subscription upvoting on Steemit. Full details can be found at @steemcryptosicko

Manual voting has my preference. I have just voted.

I am voting YES but there would have to be strings attached, for example it would have to be a manual vote to keep in about silver gold and precious metals and not just some garbage or something offensive

The only issue I have is with the "mandatory" part. Curation Trails can be good for all involved but we're not really a voluntaryist group if it's not voluntary.

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

I completely agree with @dfinney. I have my own trail in steemauto where I only upvote people that post about steem, silver or gold. Of course I will upvote a recipe or a tale about his/her dog, but the majority of the posts of this specific member must be about our main interest.

I withheld my Vote, because I was about to leave the Steem Silver Gold Community... Then I read Rays post, that brought me back... I used the three dots to acknowledge the fact I read the post... I was getting heat from Damus, saying my comments were Spam... I guess, no matter what I do, seem to be the wrong thing to do... It all started because of my Lucky Neighbor Award... I would never have commented the Damus post, if his post wasn’t next to mine... I put an end to the Lucky Neighbor Award, but the heat continues... I’m not a Troll...

You are part of group of PM enthusiasts, and yet when going through your history I can't see much where you post about liking PM's. Your posts talk about trading your PM's for change, how you can't spend you PM's. Your posts almost seem to be adversarial to the SSG community at times.

I have plenty of issues with your theory, but learned long ago you can never change someones mind on social media. I have received the lucky neighbor award, but never knew what that whats about, so that might be part of the confusion. I can appreciate your enthusiasm for spreading your ideas - but posting anti silver rhetoric in a pro PM group is going to draw attention, and you might not like it. Just my thoughts - take em or leave em!

I’ve read and listened to everything I could find about Gold and Silver and the Platinum Group Metals... If you paid more attention to my Posts, you’d know that I’m a long time Stacker... I also have a Theory that would help you get your hands on more Silver than you ever thought possible... It’s not my fault that you missed out on some of the best Posts in the Steem Silver Gold Community... By chance, have you read my post on 5 to 10 Thousand Dollar Gold and 100 Dollar Silver...??? I’m also available to answer any comment or question concerning any of my 777 Posts... My last Up-Vote was 13 Hours ago...
