Silver of the Day #3

The closest local coin shop (LCS) is one town away from me, so I do have to drive a little ways to get there. I was in the area today and planned to stop and pick up more of the sterling silver silverware that I showed you last week.

While I was driving there I had a decision to make. Like I said, I don't get to that area very often, but my wife had an errand that she needed done in the same area. It seemed like it'd work out to do both, but because of time, I could only do one. So I could either:

  • Go to the LCS and get my silverware that I'd been waiting a week to get

OR

  • Do the errand for my wife

Care to venture a guess as to what I did?

You had better believe I did that errand! And I did it with a smile on my face. My wife doesn't get on here, so she'll probably never see that I wrote this, but she's a great woman and I'd do just about anything for her. I was glad that I could make her day a little better by taking something off her plate. So I didn't end up going to the LCS, but my wife is happy, and that's what matters.

All that to say that I don't have new shiny of my own to show you, but I did see something on my daydreaming site that I thought you all could appreciate. Check this puppy out!

It's a graded MS69 America The Beautiful Fort Moultrie 5 oz silver coin. And it's only around $121!

Normally these coins sell for around $108 without the grading, so that means you're picking up a graded coin for only $13 more than the regular version. I don't know how they do it as the grading service can be expensive, but that just means you get a deal on this one.

I know I've posted about the ATB coins before. They're uncommon as most coins are 1 ozt, with the less common weights being 1.25, 1.5, or 2 ozt. I haven't gotten to hold one of the 5 ouncers, but when I do, you'd better believe that I'll be doing a post on it.

- Any SSG folks have graded STB coins? If so, do you think it was worth the extra money?

In case you missed @sevinwilson's update, the Steem Rounds are getting closer! Check out his update post here.

I vote it's way worth it,5 oz coins always get a nice price over spot. with that grading I think that is a great deal!

Yeah, from what I've seen the bigger ones have a higher premium because they are more unique. I guess they have more fixed costs to make up as they don't sell as many.

I know you have some of these coins since you generously gave one away in the raffle. Do you have any graded ones?

No I don't, but now I will get those for sure after seeing this post of yours.

Right on! I'm looking forward to seeing your post on them.

That ATB is beautiful! I don’t have any of the coins in the set, but it seems you got a steal! Thanks for the plug! ☺️☺️

I haven't gotten it yet. The money I have in hand I still am planning on using for a little more silverware. I want to at least get a second set if possible. Then I can look at getting more coins. There are some good deals out there right now. :)

I'm a big fan of your work, and I know it's easy for things to get lost in the shuffle on Steemit. In case SSG members didn't see your post, I want them to know what's going on with the rounds. I know there are a lot of people really excited about it. You just let us know when you push that "jumping on the couch" button for excitement level. ;)

@themanwithnoname good choice indeed lol. I really like the 5oz, but with stacking I don't see the need for anything graded unless it is seriously low mintage or in amazing condition. This is because at the end of the day that 5oz is 5oz and most LCS wont do anything amazing with a graded one. Thanks so much for the post!!

Good to know. I haven't really though too many things through. I mainly stack for weight, but I also like unique stuff, and I like getting a good deal. I know the graded ones cost more, so I figured they would be worth more, but if they aren't, I'll have to take that into consideration. I do want some graded ones at some point. I think they look cool.

I appreciate you stopping by! :)
