Silver of the Day #47
This is the last post in my series about the Ford truck silver bars that I found. Initially I thought it was going to be a three part series as I only had three bars, but I found pictures of the other two... and as I don't anticipate I'll be getting the other two any time soon, I figured I'd keep you from missing what I'm missing.
The final bar is the 1959 version of the F-250. It's a workhorse truck that was meant to do heavy hauling and towing. They even put on the bar that it's a 4x4.
It's neat to see the progression of the trucks over time. They added new models to meet specific niches, but regardless of the truck's use, it's fun to see how they've changed.
Did you have a favorite of the five Ford bars?

Thanks! Maybe one day I'll get to own it. For now, I'm happy just to know that it exists and that there's hope that I can get it eventually.

I am not a great fan of trucks, I am fan of silver. So, this series interests me as a silver stacker and a silver collector.
Have you ever owned or driven a truck?
I'm a fan of silver too, and I like collecting it, so being that I had a truck, I really like these.
I have already driven a truck, once or twice, but no special feelings...
Fair enough. I had a truck when I was growing up and I loved it. I could go all over the place because it had 4x4. I could haul stuff when I wanted to. I was strong enough that I could get a little money moving things for people. And of course, tailgating! Ha ha.
If you didn't have that kind of experience I could understand how it wouldn't make sense. It's all good though!
I guess I don't have a favorite here, but I do like trucks in general. Seems like they're built to last longer, even with all the changes in materials used and the additional electronics replacing something mechanical.
And of course, seeing different years of the Ford F series immortalized beautifully in silver is a plus. Especially since, even at $60, it's a heck of lot cheaper to buy than the actual truck would be. Perspective, man. Perspective. :)
Yes, buying a $60 piece of silver is cheaper than buying a car. Now that you've cleared that up for me I'm going to buy a new car's worth of silver. ;)

Seems like you would basically drive off the lot in a silver car for that, right? I mean, 20-$30,000 worth of silver translates to a couple of tons, doesn't it? Okay, probably not at $15 an ounce. Of course, I could be underestimating just how you're going to spend, too.
That's around 1,800 ounces of silver if you're just getting the stuff with low premiums. Ha ha. I don't know that I would actually want a car that was made of silver. I think it would be easier to just have that many dollars worth of silver bars. It would be easier to transport and store.
Yeah, I know. Mr. Stackitus now has the case of the "practicals." You have to admit, having a car made out of silver along with a house and maybe a downtown office building would definitely show your love for the shiny. Maybe I should talk to the SSG community and make it a requirement. See what they say.
Okay, we all know I'm not going to do that. :)
I think if I had a silver car I would be worried about someone walking up and shaving a little bit off. That would suck. Soon I would come back and find that I have no car.
I think you should reach out to the SSG community and suggest a silver car as a requirement for being a part of the group. I'm curious what they would say! :D
I like the Ford trucks. But love most the Model-T. Nice silver bar, my friend! Stack on!

howdy sir Blondie..these things are such a cool set and what's cooler is there are probably what..thousands of different sets which can be purchased! that's alot of hunting.
Yeah, there are a lot of different sets and singles that you can get if you put your mind to it. I'd love to get more. But patience is critical for collecting.
