Silver of the Day - Unboxing #3

I have already written about @silveringots' "Find The Ingot" contest series. After a long and very competitive Round 2, I was fortunate enough to win first place!

It's only been a few days since winning, but @silveringots got the prize in the mail right away and I picked it up yesterday afternoon. Now, I get to do another unboxing post for you all.

Got the package and my trusty knife!

Like any good Indiana Jones-style treasure, the was a rush of air when I broke the seal

image.png

That's how to write a note!

I freed the precious contents from its packaging captors.

image.png

Oh, the anticipation!

image.png

There IT IS!!!

image.png

Let's loose it from the last bit of packaging and let it breathe the free air again.

That's better.

Ingotitis

@silveringots warned me that I could contract a disease called "Ingotitis." I believe that's the name. One of the symptoms is that it's difficult to remember the name of it.

You can go to the doctor and get an immunization shot, but it was too late for me. Since I'm already heavily afflicted with Stakitus, I was extra susceptible to Ingotitis and caught it even before the ingot arrived.

It's going to be tough times in the No Name household what with my Stakitus and now Ingotitis as well. The only treatment for them is to buy more silver and add it to the stack. I'm going to be working on keeping it at bay as much as I can.

It is a beautiful prize and I've been enjoying staring at it, holding it, sending pictures to friends who aren't on Steemit yet. Thank you again, @silveringots for your generosity giving such a beautiful gift. It's a lovely curse/cure!

To paraphrase Fiddler on the Roof

Perchik: [Silver] is the world's curse.
Tevye: May the Lord smite me with it! And may I never recover!

Your house might sink with all that silver you have.

Ha ha ha, that's true. It's a good thing there's a strong foundation under it. Also good that I don't have all my silver stashed in a houseboat. :P

Wow, that's big! I was getting so excited with your 'lead-up' photos, nice job. I can only imagine your excitement :) What did you win the prize from? It's awesome!

(by the way, I just wrote a post with an update about Brian; thought you might want to read it. That sounds so cryptic and it's not meant as such. You're a good friend and always ask about him is all ;)

Yeah, it's a sizable chunk of silver. It's much heavier than you would expect. I enjoy having it around to help keep my wily papers in order. Heh

It's the single-largest piece that I own right now. I'm really pleased with it.

It was a lot of fun to open. I got a PO box so I could receive packages from my fellow steemians. It's fun! I've never had one before. I get to drive down and pick up the package, and the open it slowly as to not waste the moment.

It was from winning Silveringots' "Find the Ingot" series. It was stressful at times, but also a lot of fun. He was very generous and gave away not only this bar to me, but Steem to the other participants.

Thanks for pinging me about your update. I've read it once. I normally read your posts on Brian a few times before I respond. I want to make sure that I'm taking the time to respond in a meaningful way rather than just "nice post." I would have to flag myself for that. Thank you for the update and thanks for letting me know. I'm always happy (that's not the right word, but hopefully you know where I'm going with that) to read an update on your lives.

That was a pretty awesome prize then @themanwithnoname!

And yes, I understand exactly what you are saying. I hate "pimping my post" anywhere, but I knew you would want to have a read :) Your comments are always meaningful! I'm actually waiting to reply to the comments on that post because it's so emotionally draining writing those posts, then answering the comments double drains me. But, it's lovely support, so I'm totally not complaining either.

It was a pretty, awesome prize! And pretty prize. And awesome prize. And ... you get the idea. :P

I could see how it would be draining. Everyone wants to give support, but if it's support that needs to be acknowledged, then you have to use more energy on it. You're doing a lot of work on both ends to keep things going: the take care of Brian and taking care of the people who care for Brian. You're one of the really good ones!

awww thank you @themanwithnoname!! That's a really nice thing to say!😅❤️

If I were a rich man,
Yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man.

You got it!

The real lesson is that even if you're not rich, any stacking is better than no stacking. Some progress is still progress even if it's not as much as we would like. We just do the best we can and add a little bit at a time. It will grow and eventually be a stack to be reckoned with.

Fantastic article @themanwithnoname! I enjoyed reading that. Had some good laughs. I am glad your enjoying that bar as much as I do. A mentor always told me to try and SHARE THE PASSION. Thanks for your participation and support in "Find The Ingot."

I'm glad you liked it. I figured I'd do more than just tear the box open. I like to savor the moment.

It's such a beautiful thing, especially to see in person.

It sounds like you have a wise mentor. It's nice when you can find people who really inspire you to be better than you were. Then when you do the same for others, the ripples continue.

I'm glad I got a chance to participate. I found it at the end of round 1. I don't know who the winners were there, but it got me hooked.

Thank you! I love it already. I hadn't actually held a legit pour until this one and it's a thing of beauty for sure.

howdy @themanwithnoname! wow that is a totally cool ingot and I'm sorry to see that you are hopelessly afflicted with these conditions that have no cure, I will be thinking about you as you struggle to keep them at bay! lol.
great post, hilarious post, and fun post..great job!

Thanks! I'm glad you like the ingot. I appreciate your support in these trying times. It's not easy to deal with, but I'm making it through. I wasn't able to make it to the coin store today, so it's been a challenging day. I'm getting through though.

Thanks for reading and commenting. :)

oh and the knife! very cool knife my man, very cool!

It was a gift from a friend. I like it. And it's very sharp.

and it is a very cool style.

That too! All in all, it's a good knife. I'm thankful for it, and thankful for the friend who gave it!

I wish I had those kinds of friends!

I can never find the ingot, or was late and not the FIRST to find it! CONGRATS on your win, my friend!

I'm sorry. It is a very challenging game. It's such a rush when the post comes out though. You're looking everywhere trying to find it first. And then you have to wait at least an hour until you find out if your guess was correct. There's lots of strategy to it, but I think I had a lot of luck on my side too.

You guys are giving me some ingotitis too... Now that i see it in these photos I'm starting to want one... made of gold xD

There you go! I knew we could get you with something. The gold ones would be fun to see. They're slightly more expensive though. :)

Oh, wow. That's nice. Usually with the Indiana Jones rush of air there's something scary or very unpleasant that follows, so since you didn't mention it (which is exactly what would happen if you were like possessed by some evil spirit or something), I'm going to hope for the best that the only thing happening is that our stackitis is deeper and more sure than ever before.

So, is it really stakitus, or stackitus, with a c before the k. If it's not with a c, I'm spelling it wrong, thinking it comes from the English word stack, to place something on something else, instead of the Pakistani word Stak, which means a valley in Gilgit-Baltistan.

I'm not certain on the etymology or epidemiology of Sta(c)kitus. All I know is that I have it and I want more of it. Wait, no I want less. No, more. I'm not sure. I just want more shiny. Who knows. :P

I think the box was just loaded with an extra dose of Sta(c)kitus and a side infection of Ingotitis. Now the desire to get ingots has increased as well, so it is going to be varied stacking, not just bars, coins, and rounds.

That's the song. I don't normally link unlicensed stuff in my posts. I save those for the comments. Ha ha ;)

I think YouTube videos are more fair game than most, and it's pretty obvious where they're coming from and who might get some credit for it, even though it's someone else doing the video clip and tossing it up there. It's not like images as much because there is a definite person to the image. Where as the entire footage of a film or television show would be owned by some company, the video clip is done by someone else who threw it up on YouTube. Still probably easy to figure out who it belongs to, and those who don't want their shows or movies shared in anyway tend to put up cease and desist orders that YouTube is very good at honoring. Maybe a little too good.

At any rate, I'm more than happy to provide the song for this post in the comments. :)
