National League Game of the Day: Nationals at Cubs

The Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs will do battle today in the second game of their weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on Fox Sports 1. It will take place at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The weather calls for sunshine with warm and humid temps. The Cubs are very small favorites at -116 and the over/under is 9 runs.
The Cubs enter today’s game after an exciting 3-2 victory on Friday. They now have a 3 game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. But there is plenty of baseball left as both teams have over 40 games left in the regular season.
Ace pitcher Jon Lester will get the start today for the Cubs. Lester is having another solid year for the Cubs and is 12-4. His ERA has crept up a bit though over his last few starts and sits at 3.44. He will definitely be challenged by a talented Nationals line up today.
The Nationals will look to Tanner Roark to bounce back against the Cubs today. But Roark is having a tough season and is only 6-12 on the year. Roark has a high ERA at 4.21. But there is some good news here for the Nationals. Roark hasn’t given up more than 1 run in his last four starts.
