SUMMER ADVENTURES - Episode 20 - AROUND THE SELF SEEDING FIGS

in #steemstem5 years ago (edited)

Hehe, my computer is finally repaired and ready for a bit longer, more complex and more prepared post ...

... with some GIFwork thrown in ...

... it's finally time ...

... for another SUMMER ADVENTURES episode to be published ...

... and this one ...

... is about a sweet ending of summer, about the first days of September, about the succulent fruits growing on the hard rocks, and the animals this seasonal abundance attracts...

... the self-seeding figs are very common here ...

... you can find them deep in the coastal forests, intertwined with other trees ... on the rocky terrains. directly under the strong sun ... or sprouting from old, abandoned houses and homesteads ... including some ancient, archeological sites ...

... this particular set of trees where all the photographs were taken ...

... are growing on the rocky hill, seemingly a barren rock overlooking the sea ...

... and, surprisingly, they produce a big quantity of very sweet and very edible fruits ... so while photographing for the post ... I enjoyed this meal with other creatures ...

... at some point, some of the figs crack open and spread like big succulent flowers, showing their intensively sweet bright red interiors ... it's a beautiful moment of color among the greens and yellows of the leaves ...

... and there is a very good chance you'll find the Admiral butterfly there ...

... decorating the already a colorful scene even more ...

... but many insects present here ...

... like this large grasshopper with extremely long legs and antennae ...

... or this ...

... very different but similarly camouflaged grasshopper ...

... are not interested in the fruits ... they prefer to hide among the large leaves ...

... here you can also find ...

... some ...

... interesting little moths ...

... and ...

... a wide array ...

... of flies ...

... quite a few species are present here ...

... and the dragonflies are patrolling the place  ...

... you can see silk traps filled with small insects remains ...

... laying around ...

... sophisticated work of many spiders ...

... some of them really minuscule ...

... but ...

... on some leaves ...

... you can find different, much denser, silk structures ...

... these are made by caterpillars ...

... which will complete their transformation ...

... here on the fig tree ...

... not only the small creatures are visiting this place in big numbers ...

... swarms of starlings ...

... are also a common thing to see among the fig trees at this point of summer ...

... just like the many butterflies ...

... but now ...

... let's go back to the fruits ...

... some are green, some are almost yellow ...

... and some are coming in various shades of indigo and violet ...

... but the sweet interior ...

... is always ...

... brightly red ...

... and now ...

... with this yellow leaf foretelling the autumn that soon will be here ...

... and this gracile wasp that I rarely see...

... it's time to end this post ... Have a good day ... or night ... wherever on the planet you are ...

... As always in these posts on Steemit ... all the photographs ... and GIFs made from some of these photographs ... are my work ...

... yap :D ... this is THE END ...

Good time to give reSteem.
I'm glad your PC is repaired. I know what a damaged PC is.
Your photos are ... Diossss!
Speechless.
The gif, lovely.
The butterflies, the toninos and all the effects, as well as the fig tree;
I love figs!
Everyone posed for you.
I think this comment will be pure exclamation. Hahaha
Stay great!

:) Thank you for the exclamations! :D Glad, you liked this little photo story about the local nature.

I particularly like your contribution again. We both have something in common with the butterflies. Especially the pictures of the fig trees are great. I really envy you for them because the fruits are extremely tasty and not yet so widespread in Germany.

Those figs look yum! And you have such a variety of those little creatures. So many of us simply walk by and don't even notice all those little pals. It's a pity as there is so much beauty in them.

Thank you for sharing your large collection of lovely pictures :)

Have a good day!

:) Thanks for the comment ... glad you enjoyed this little photo story ... have a good day.

That grasshopper has really cool looking sunglasses.
