Can we Steal the Power of the Stars? - Part 0

Dear friends and fellow Steemians.

I hope some people still remember me but I was very active about a year ago. I left the platform due to a lack of time and some false expections regarding my ability to post here every day. But I have missed the creative outlet that Steemit facilitated and so... I am back!!! I hope at least some of you are as excited as I am.

I have decided that I would consistently post at least once a week. I know that this might be a bit too low but I do not want to burn out again with all my real life things to do. The title of this post is a giveaway about the subject of my future posting. I will talk about Nuclear Fusion and how we can use it to power or society for the next 1000 years. I have already made a Introduction to Fusion Science series which can be found in the link and also in my post history. For those who are interested on the subject definitly check it out. This was quite rudimentary but now I would like to go into more detail.

As this subject is at the core of my professional academic career I will try to do the following things:

  • Be as clear and concise without compromising the scientific rigorosity
  • Start from the very basic physical concepts, so everyone can follow along
  • Take you along on my personal academic journey as a lowely PhD student as we attempt to steal the power of the stars

In Power of the Stars: Part 1 - How does the Sun burn so bright? I will answer the question what is the enormous energy source in the center of the Stars and can we do the same. So if you are interested in the answer dont forget to follow me and upvote this post so it gains maximu visibility.

Welcome back!

Let's summarize what you missed :D

There is a 3% rule per author with the time frame of 14 days. In practice, it means (as you are aiming at the top awards), you can write 1 post every 5 days or so (about 3 per 2 weeks)

The awards:

  • 5/5 steemSTEM + Curie
  • 20/20 steemSTEM + Curie
  • 65/65 steemSTEM + Curie + Utopian (but not always!)
  • 100/100, the same as above, relatively rare but you can get those as well from time to time.

About 85 $ on the screen is the max *(100/100), in reality, it will be 50 $ most of the time.

There are honour members (those with a degree) on Discord Channel, join us:

It's allowed to post the same thing in English and your native language with an unwritten rule that you will get 1 step lower award (not set in stone, but...)

Or you could write something in your native language. The awards are the same as for posts in English.

Good luck!!!

I will join the discord and try to drop in from time to time to contribute whatever I can. Can you elaborate on these numbers you write? The 5/5, 20/20 and so on. I dont really understand.

Can you also bring me up to speed how steemit in general is doing. Just a quick rundown. :D

Numbers are the percentages of the full upvote. The first Num/Num denotes steemSTEM + our trail, and the second Num denotes the Curie's upvote.

Steemit in general...
It had the similar pattern as ETH. Now we are around position 40 according to total market cap (not good). We are sharing the destiny of other cryptos, more or less.

The promising thing is the recent hard fork, that facilitates the production of "steem related coins". That could boost our popularity and burn some Steem, consequently increase the price.

Steem also got indexed to some new exchanges, but nothing happened.

Number of users is in free fall according to Alexa (not good...)

In short, we are hoping/waiting for the boss (Bitcoin) to make a bull run.
And I hope Steem will survive long enough to see it.

posting once in a week is not low :) Good to see you again :)

I remember you from some great posts of you about nuclear fusion. I was a bit sad when you disappeared from one day to the next one, but please be reinsured: you were not the only one. Anyways, I am glad to see you back and I am looking forward to read more from you.

Also note that posting once a week is already good. I am myself barely following that rhythm. Time is a precious resource... ;)

As you say, time IS a precious resource. The lack of time is exactly the reason why I disappeared. But hopefully I can keep up now. I really like the community here on steemit.
