MY SCHOOL LIFE MEMORIES

INTRODUCTION

Firstly I want to appreciate God for using @sherbanu to create this contest. I won the last episode and I was rewarded just as promised. I say a very big thank you to @sherbanu. I wish you more wisdom, more success, more Sbd, more Steem. Going back to the real business, in this episode we are asked to write about our school life memories. I have a lot to write, but I will try as much as possible to summarize.

I will write briefly about my background, because my background really affected my school life. Up till now I never enjoyed Father’s care. I lost my dad when I was ten, and my mum refused to remarry. This really makes my school life to be very tough. I lacked a lot of things. I sacrifice a lot of things. Because the work or responsibility of two persons (Dad &Mum) became the responsibility of just one person (my Mum). She finished her Master’s degree in the year 2000 and stepped down to finance my education.

Let me start with my secondary school. I was very stubborn when I was in secondary school. This makes me to have a lot of nicknames. One of it that I will never forget is “Pastor yerepe”. Yerepe is a plant called MUCUNA PRURIENS by Botanist. It do caused itching when it come in contact with one’s skin. There is a very stubborn teacher in my school then, his name is Mr Oyesiji. His nickname is Mr. Wonderful or Danger. This man can beat the whole school and not get tired. His hobby is beating. To the extent that so many teachers in my school don’t beat, once you misbehave to them they will just send you to Mr Oyesiji to beat you. So one day I decided to deal with this teacher. I went to pluck this dangerous plant and shake it on where he used to sit. And fortunately for me he sat down on it and used it rub his body and his body started itching him. And when he scared my classmates, they don’t have a choice than to betray me. Five teachers beat a living thing out of my body that day. Instead for me to cry, I started dancing and with annoyance the teachers started the beating again. I was severely beating that day. It was this beating that made that day an unforgettable day.

Another thing I want to share is the beating I was beaten when I was in secondary school. I did not go to school for almost 2 weeks, and I will leave home early in the morning. But when I get to half way, I will branch to my unserious friends and play football till afternoon. But before I go back home, I will have drafted a note from my textbook and show it to my mum that this is what we did in school. After 2 weeks my mum went to our school, and my teachers told her that they did not see me in school. With annoyance my mum told our neighbors (2policemen and 1 soldier) and I was beaten to coma.

In the year 2008, I gained admission to the first and the best university in Nigeria (University of Ibadan). It was a tough experience. I lacked so many things but my mum really tried all her best for me to be ok. I remembered she bought me a laptop. I was the first student to use laptop in my class. This makes me to be very popular and makes me to have plenty girlfriends. But later I met a descent and God fearing girl who advised and help me to change my ways. I was now serious with my studies. A year after my younger bro fell sick and this makes my mum to go broke. Things was so tough in school. Most especially in the aspect of feeding. I remember I will use boiling ring to cook rice and there will be no kerosene in my stove to finish the cooking. I remember all sort of food combinations. Like eating Eba with beans; eating semovita with semovita. I will cook semo and also use semo to prepare soup. Like drinking Garri and Pap. All sort of rubbish meals. One thing, I was serious with my academics and this makes me to come out with first class. Here I am today thanking God for how far he has helped me. Today have forgot all the sufferings I suffered then in school.

Another experience I want to share is when I was threatened by cultist. I remember when I was in 300 level. I dated a girl then, not knowing that her ex-boyfriend is a cultist. The guy threatened to kill me. Sending different threat messages. Dropping letters in my house. This was so serious to the extent that I have to leave school for 2 months till it died down. I have to leave the girl alone and face my studies.

In conclusion, there is one thing I learn from my school experience. I learnt that no matter how hard your situation is, there is light and joy at the end of the tunnel. I suffered a lot in school but I did not lose hope. I continue struggling and hoping that one day everything is gonna make sense. And today I thank God that those horrible experiences are not in vain. Those experiences made me who I am today. My advice to my readers is, Don’t lose hope! No matter the circumstances. No matter how hard your situation is, there is light at the end of the tunnel. When there is life, there is hope.

Thank you for reading. Once again thanks to @Sherbanu for creating this contest. Thank you God bless.
