It is very heavy and it was very hard to swim.
A lady named Kellerman changed all this for woman.
She was the one woman who could swim, and win a lot of gold medals for her fantastic swimming.
Her idea is to make it easier for woman to swim because she realised that it was not possible to swim like that.
This swimsuit is still in a museum where it shows how this looked.
She was arrested when she appeared in this swimsuit and taken to court.
Here she took her day in court, and convinced the judge to let woman swim in her swimsuits.
It must have felt wonderful for all the woman to be able to swim as they could not before.
