Origins of Sago and Palm Trees

Once, in the Donggala region, Central Sulawesi, a married couple lived with a son. They live in an old house which is located on the edge of the Dolo forest. Their lives are very poor. To meet their daily needs, they look for fruits and other forest products available around them.
The longer the husband feels bored living with such conditions. Finally, there was an intention to open a plantation area that would be planted with various types of crops and vegetables. One day, he also conveyed his good intentions to his wife.
"Sister! What if we just garden? I am tired of living like this continuously, "said the husband.
How happy the wife heard her husband's plan. He feels that her husband will change to not work lazily.
"Brother, where do we want to garden? Don't we have no land for gardening? "Asked the wife.
"Relax, Sis! Tomorrow Abang will open the forest to be used as plantation land, "replied the husband.
"Well then, I agree," said the wife.
The next day, early in the morning the husband left for the Dolo forest. After a while along the forest, he also found a suitable place to be used as a plantation. Meanwhile, the wife and her child wait at home while weeding the grass that grows in the yard of the house so that the snake does not disturb them.
Towards the afternoon, the husband came home from the forest carrying fruit for their dinner preparation. His wife welcomed him with hope. After presenting a drink, the wife asked her husband.
"Brother, what is the result? Has Abang found a suitable place to become a plantation? "
"Yes, Sister! Brother has found a fertile plot of land, "replied the husband.
Hearing her husband's answer, the wife felt happy. He hopes that with this new work their family life will get better someday.
"O yes, Bang! If you can know, where is the land? "The wife asked again.
"It's not far from our house," answered the husband.
"Thank God, Bang! We don't have to walk far to achieve it. Then, when will you start opening the land? "Asked the wife.
"If nothing gets in the way, tomorrow Brother will start," replied the husband with confidence.
A few moments later, the day was getting dark. The wife also prepares a makeshift dinner. After dinner, the poor family rested after almost a day of work.
The next day, the early morning the husband left for the forest carrying a machete and hoe. Arriving at the place that will be used as plantation land, suddenly the lazy nature appears. He instead cleared the forest, but sat pensive while watching the trees that grew big and green in front of him. Meanwhile, his wife and child were waiting at home with hope. The wife hopes that her husband will immediately open a plantation.
"My child! If your father has finished opening a plantation, we can help him grow vegetables and tubers in the garden, "said the mother to her child.
"May I help, Mother?" Asked his son.
"Sure, my son! "Your father must be very happy if you help him too," replied the mother with a smile.
By late afternoon, the husband came home from the forest. He was welcomed by his wife with a drink of drinking water. After her husband finished drinking and his tiredness disappeared, the wife again asked about the results of his work that day.
"What's the result today, Brother?"
"It's not finished, Sis!" Replied the husband.
The next day, the husband returned to the forest. Arriving there, he returned to just sitting pensive. That's the job every day. Likewise, if asked by his wife about the results of his work, he always answered "not finished".
Out of curiosity to see the results of her husband's work, one afternoon the wife followed her to the forest where she worked. Arriving at the place, he found her husband sitting pensive while leaning under a tree. How disappointed the wife was, because the plantation land he hoped would not materialize.
"Brother! Where is the plantation? "Asked the wife.
Hearing his wife's question, the husband instead answered it. However, he immediately rose from his seat, then immediately returned home feeling angry. Apparently, he felt offended because his wife followed into the forest. Knowing her husband was angry, the wife followed him from behind.
