There was a man named Sanyi, who served in the King’s palace. The King was ruthless and hardly showed any compassion, especially when people did something that deserved punishment. Once you are guilty, just forget it. He would exert the appropriate punishment.

Sanyi stole from the King’s treasury. The person who noticed the missing item notified the King, while another person who noticed Sanyi leaving the treasury department reported what he saw. Sanyi’s apartment was searched and lo and behold, the item was found. The King ordered Sanyi to be summoned and his charge was read to him. With tear-filled eyes, he was led to the dungeon where he would be locked up.

The news got to the mother and she persistently came to the King’s palace to plead, but every time she was denied entry when they already knew why she was coming. They would inform the King at the gate and anytime he heard it was Sanyi’s mother, he would ask​ them to make her leave.

On a cool evening, the mother was determined to seek another audience with the King. She sat outside the palace and didn’t even bother going inside.
