CURACAO LABOR UNION (SITEK) AND GOVERNMENT NEEDS A NATIONAL SOLUTION SOON!
Willemstad, Curacao. Yesterday; The Curacao Labor Union; (SITEK); had a formal meeting with The Curasaleno Government; Prime Minister; Eugene Rhuggenaath, the Minister of Finance; Kenneth Gijsbertha, and The Minister of Education; Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, to discuss the issues and points about Curacao's Educational Labor force. The meeting took practically the entire day and at the end of the meeting there was no concrete nor definite agreement reached.
THE BARGAIN & NEGOTIATION …
The following points discussed were:
1.) VSBO teachers requesting a reduction in Weekly hours from 32 hours to 27 hours.
2.) Non-Teaching personnel with 19 to 25 vacation days/year will receive an increase to 38.
3.) Teachers of Category A, with 5 or more years of experience should immediately be promoted to a Category B and the salary increase associated with the said Category upgrade. Also that “they will receive an extra promotion once they are promoted”.
That equals, a decrease in the Salary Increment Reward Initiative; (SIRI) Period; from 7 years down to 5 years.
4.) An Increase in sanitation services, which means each classroom should be cleaned up at the end of the school day.
- Want that the educational sector must be treated as a separate sector with special treatment and conditions for the personnel and a follow-up date for a future meeting to to measure the progress of their statue points.
The Curacao Labor Union; in English; aka (CULU), is still in the process to act on the drafted documents and respond to the government.
II. IMPLICATIONS & RESEARCH INDICATES...
In a recent research study conducted by J. Josepha News, it was observed that, Curacao's school dropout rate is predicted to pre-climax at about 17% +/- 1.03%, hence forecasting even more youths, to be even less competitive in Curacao's workforce and far less competitive in the global labor market.
This short term perspective tendency will eventually affect Curacao's economy and forecast to dramatically affect Curacao's economic potential within a decade.

However; as Minister of Economic Affairs of the country Pre-2017 and then as Prime Minister of Curacao Post 2017, Curacao's economic crisis continues spiraling downward, either intentionally or non-intentionally. It's hard to distinguish, and that is truly sad!
Or That; Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath; with a Graduate Masters degree in Business and The leader of the political party PAR, along with his and PAR's Economic policy reminded, "The Pro-Curacao-Netherlands" News Media Network, TV Direct, Curacao and the world, of John Fitzgerald Kennedy's Economic Policy to national recovery! If That Was Only So!
V. EUGENE RHUGGENAATH; AS A LEADER, CAN NOT BE REMOTELY COMPARED THAT TO THE LEADERSHIP OF JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY; 35th US PRESIDENT:
The closest thing that Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath has come similar to the 35th US President John F. Kennedy was in attending the graduation ceremony of Dra. Farhat Syed's University School of Medicine named; John F. Kennedy University School of Medicine.
For probably; the most part; Curasaleno's did not know that JFK served in the military and donated his income from being the leader of the free world at that time and most of all and most importantly he rose the the national GDP by over 6% in a span of almost 2 years by truly investing in the people and the country thru government "stimulus package" regardless of who received it, black, white, rich or poor, democrats or republicans.
VI. VIRTUALLY NON-EXISTENT GROWTH…
Now, according to political sources that claim to know the political party PAR and in the case of PM Rhuggenaath, he never served in any military and he is definitely not catholic and a questionable christian. But according to sources and confirmed by the Curacao Department of Statistics, Rhuggenaath period in charge of the economic potential of the country has seen very little minuscule growth and comparably it was argued that Former Prime minister now inmate prisoner Gerrit Schotte had a more luxurious national economical growth rate despite the alleged corruption going on, because corruption is suppose to take money away from the country and channel it in the pockets of the corrupt and that results in bad management.

VII. CURACAO’S ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL TRAJECTORY DISMAL…
Based on history and Curacao's projection, the national economic & financial tendency has a continuing increase in unemployment now at about 18% and a projected real debt to national GDP ratio of about 60%. Presently the incidence of Diabetes is frighteningly high estimated at about 4 out of every 10 Curasalenos and patients on dialysis is ghastly growing, in addition to Alzheimer, brain tumors and respiratory disease. All of these factors, were predicted and foreseeable to occur but it seems like instead of digging out of national financial debt, that the direction of the government seems to be digging deeper into debt with presumably issuing bonds and apparently wanting to manipulate interest rates to produce a net positive return, however this seems like national financial suicide and economic genocide.
VIII. IS THERE A DEEPER MOTIVATION & REASONING TO WHAT’S GOING ON?
Maybe, that is the idea of the government spend as much as possible to force Mother Netherlands to cut Curacao loose or therefore be labeled as dictator colonizer and in contradiction to the Geneva convention and United Nations instruments on Human Rights. However; thinking this pathway is foolish, because of the contract signed by those who pushed for autonomy of Curacao and may have well forgotten what happened in Sint Eustatius. Curacao signed an agreement to be economically manageable, but with a debt to GDP ratio as projected from economic indicators, Curacao's credit rating will definitely be affected, even though it comes at a convenience of Mother Netherlands
IX. THE RESULTING IMPLICATIONS FOR ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Hence, in analysis, with a country competent labor force shrinking, SITEK and its leadership, thought it was the best time to bargain for reducing the teachers & educators working hours per day by 1 full working hour for secondary school educators.
X. ANALYSIS OF SITEK REDUCTION IN WORKING HOURS.
Normally secondary schools averages from 7:30am to 2:30pm that 7 hours of work with 1/2 hr for lunch recess and 15 minutes in break recess and almost another 15 minutes in preparation or transition period in between classes. Therefore in reality that's 6hrs. of working on site, with about 1 hour in recess lunch, break and transition period.
But, now SITEK and its leadership want to bargain with the Curacao Government to get 1 full hour off, so either school would start at 8:30am for secondary school or the school day would end at 1:30pm. This is the time for a strong leader and prime minister to listen to the needs of the country not give in to educational terrorist threats to systemic sabotage to the future of the country's welfare and prosperity. What will Rhuggenaath Do?
XI. ADMINISTRATIVE INEPTITUDE OR LACK OF APTITUDE
In addition, SITEK has requested situations that are based on administrative ineptitude and lack of school's administrative aptitude whilst the country is still suffering some of its highest school drop-out indices. SITEK needs to bring these issues to the general public so that accountability and responsibility can be more transparent in the management of the education sector. It maybe suggested that an overall increase in salary to compensate for the additional hour and accessory time period may resolve this issue, but like Nancy Pelosi; The Speaker of the House in the US Governmental branch, shouldn’t SITEK come with more evidence that they have put in the blood sacrifice and tears for the future of tomorrow’s dreams and the live blood of tomorrow, instead of a an educational system that has a high dropout rate, after all some of the blame could be place on those educators, administration and staff who are only interested in their paycheck at the end of the month and not so much so in teaching and having a genuine interest in their students future or career?
XII. OLD CHINESE PROVERB & MILLI VANILLI - “BLAME IT ON THE RAIN...”
An old Chinese proverb says; if a carpenter is building a chair that collapse after 30 days, there is only so much fault that can be given the poor quality of product; the wood; the other responsibility has to bear on the shoulders of the carpenter principally especially if almost all of his chairs are falling apart easily and quickly.
XIII. CURACAO’S EDUCATIONAL LOAN FOUNDATION; SSC; SITUATION
Reliable sources have demonstrated that SSC; (Curacao Educational Loan Foundation); maybe involved in a potential a case in which political interference maybe the reason why at least in 1 documented issue; a certain student he has religiously been black flagged to not receiving funds to continue studies and even demonstrated an apparent attempt to cause undue hardship an increase expense for the student. These are cases of educational terrorism and should be address in order to address the alarming increase in school drop-out rates.
Favoritism and biases should have no place in determining who receives assistance, especially when students want to return to Curacao and make it a better place.
One political insider stated that SSC appears to lack a real transparency and is dire need of a "Cleaning House" to uncover corruption, any bad management or mismanagement that has occurred or is still occurring, or hiding in the dark.
Sources claim that everyone is too close and an outside forensic accountancy committee would be needed to unearth all the harm that is going on and how deep is the connected network of wrongdoing and mismanagement; if it exists for Curacao's Student Loan Foundation.
However; other insiders claim that maybe SSC; the foundation, needs to be engulfed and reincorporated into the government and thereby and therein managed and operated by the Ministry of Education, especially after the apparent questionable situations of the former Director of SSC, Margit de Freitas.
XIV. IT’S EASIER TO PASS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU ARE DOING THE SAME THING…
The final issue is that SITEK should concern itself on ensuring a productive human resource and its management, ensuring that teachers; teach and administration administers the good welfare of the school while DOS ensures partly the cleanliness of the school environment, in addition to teachers and parents; teaching students responsibility to also assist in keeping a clean environment, for example like their own classrooms.

Rats and vermin go wherever there is a free meal, so if teachers ensure that students leave a clean classroom at the end of the day and administration ensures that the follow-up to a clean classroom has occurred and the rooms are securely closed, then someone should ask SITEK where did the vermin come from, especially if Ministry of Health ensure public health care and sanitation and the school boards ensures the good upkeep and maintenance of the school structure, whiles parent ensure that they teach their children to be respectful and responsible young persons.
XV. “ILLEGAL” VENEZUELANS SEEMING TO HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN CURASALENOS IN CURACAO...
Gerri; A resident of Montana exclaimed that since some questionable and illegal Venezuelans moved in, that the amount of vermin had dramatically increased along with stray dogs and cat visiting to eat from the garbage hanging on the air-condition units outside by the Venezuelans. The Surinamese claimed that other residents complained about the terrible hygienic nature and loud music and boisterous noise that came from the Venezuelans, but also the men that visit them were mostly older Curasaleno men. Strangely enough, other apparently neighboring residents claimed that during the same period how sick they got and unbeknownst to them their symptoms seemed synonymous to that of Zika or Dengue. The moral of the story is basically that where lack of hygienic protocol exist vermin are bound to survive and thrive. The flow is: Increase of Illegal Immigrants or native Curasalenos with poor hygiene for garbage disposal equivalent with an Increase in Rats, an Increase in Roaches and an increase in the communicable diseases they carry (bacterial and viral), which is equivalent to an increase in transmittable disease such as Zika or Dengue. Coincidentally, in 2016 Curacao reported its first case of Zika and that was the same year when the influx of illegal immigrants from Venezuela became more noticeable.
It may be proposed that Curacao accepts all illegal immigrants coming from from Venezuela and as proposed by the green party to assist Curacao in this venture, Curacao should probably put all of those immigrants seeking asylum on a plane and send them to a direct flight to Netherlands.
XVI. A RETIRED SBO SCHOOL DIRECTOR AND STAFF HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE AND EDUCATIONAL TERRORISM ON A STUDENT, HIDDEN UNDER THE RUG …
A 2015 statement report that included that a director of a SBO institution along with her non-teaching and teaching staff; willfully and intentionally; abused the rights of a student along with fallacious intimidation and willful, deliberate and intentional ostracization of the very same student which lead to sexual harassment swept under the rug. This human rights abuse was apparently intentionally buried by those as high up as members in a particular political party along with potential accomplices in SSC.
