Change

in #story6 years ago

Melissa had always been afraid of change. She was afraid of it when her dad got a new job offer in a different city, it meant they had to relocate, it meant new people, new places, it meant learning how to adjust and everything.

Then, she thought it was OK because she had only a few months of school left. And it hadn't been that bad. She had lived through it, it didn't mean she had liked it one bit. This fear had led her to make very bad decisions, she always stuck to old things, things she was comfortable with even though she sometimes knew the right decision to make.

This fear had led her to make possibly the worst decision of her life. She had against all judgement and evidence (if she should even call it that, for they were just hints) gone ahead and married her boyfriend of six years. Just because she was comfortable and didn't want to start afresh, and so she had stayed with him and married him for four years. But now she was tired, and very furious with herself that she had wasted ten years of her life with him.

As she stared at the photo of her husband with his lover she came to a decision. She was going to pack her bag and everything and move to another city and start afresh. Better late than never wasn't it?
