Silver Adventures of Captain Joshua Slane -#124 - “Pull fur Cape Verde!”
“Watch yerself thes time mucker! Ahh’m nae fond ay losin' chests ay coppers fur naethin' in return!” the Captain joked as he slapped Commander Galligan on the back.
“Aye, an Ah wooldnae gie a chest ay coppers fur a broken beak an' a cracked rib either! Haha!” Galligan replied.
“Yer maw woods be prood cheil!”
“If Ah kent 'er nam Ah woods teel 'er ye say sae!” Galligan returned the jest.
“Haw! Haw!”
“We'll nibble a puckle silvers todays an' bide tae hear frae ye in th' morn...”
“Ye dae 'at matie!”
Galligan quickly rounded up his best crew and they doused the longboat off the starboard side. Seaman Ytal, Ickied, Axwellsilver and Azzuar climbed in and manned the oars. It was mid-afternoon Tuesday and the crew would make the town of Praia, Cape Verde in an hour. The winds were poor all day but by all indications the price of silvers on the Island was better than good. The crew pulled with a pocket of coppers of their own stash, hoping to buy.
“What's th' wuid oan th' price thes morn Commander?” Seaman Ickied asked as he rolled his oar.
“Lest th' Keptin said was sixteen hunder an' thirty fower coppers...” Galligan said as he held a steady rudder for the islands.
“Blye me! That's guid!” Ytal said as she made a mental calculation of how many silvers she could afford.
“Dornt gie tay excited oan th' first day ay th' buy cycle mates. Ye ken whit th' Keptin says, nibble, nibble, nibble!" Galligan advised, “Ye dornt want tae gie caught wi' yer keks doon in th' middle ay a protracted cycle..."
Ytal gave him an odd look and then gazed back at the Silverton, now a good quarter mile off. She hadn’t heard a peep out of ErticalOne since their rescue and she was beginning think his concussion had changed him. She shook her head and shed the thought.
[Back on-board…]
“Tar hail!” Fisky yelled as the entire crew assembled on main deck.
The Captain stood front and center as he reviewed the men. Satisfied that all were accounted for he addressed the crew…
“At yer ease cheils!” he said as he nodded to Fisky.
Fisky called out Oezoe from the line and they saluted.
“Ur ye ready tae takes yer vows fur volunteer, matie?!" the Captain said as he eyed Oezoe with a steely gaze.
“Och aye Sairrr!” Oezoe replied.
“Alrighty 'en! Thes is th' volintary enlis’ment contrac’ an’ such…
- Yer’s will ne’er dis’obeys yer Keptin.

- Yer’s will ne’er abandin th’ Silverton.
Dae ye agree tae obey an' uphauld aw ay thes vows?”
“Aye Sairrr!”
“Huir uv a weel. By th' powers ingested in me, Ahh make ye crew... an' yer renk will be Loon!”
“Loon?” Oezoe said.
Fisky leaned forward and whispered, “Boy…”
“Och aye Sairrr.”
“’Att’s aw!” the Captain said as he released the men to their celebrations.
"Hip-Hip! Hoot! Hip-Hip! Hoot!"
The Captain retired to his cabin as Tipper went below to bring up the coffee and plains…
