Will you be mine?

"Will you be mine?", said Cornelius to Zituke.

"Only if this dove will fly away", said Zituke.

The dove they were talking about was almost all light grey color with the shade of pink. The dove hovered above Cornelius and said, "You are so beautiful!"

"Shouldn't you find your own Valentine?", asked Cornelius, "Perhaps from your own species."

"But I like purple cardinals. Their neck is so elegant", said the dove.

"This cardinal is taken', said Zituke who was beginning to worry. "What's your name and where did you come from, anyway?"

"My name is Columba. Everyone knows that dove is the symbol of love and because Valentine's day is tomorrow, Cornelius invited me to be a moderator of a romantic date he has in mind for you."

"Is it true?", asked Zituke.

"Well, yes, but Columba was supposed to be a surprise for you, Zituke."

"But then I discovered what a beautiful neck does Cornelius have", said Columba, "And I'm beginning to have a crush on him now."

"Should I fight for you, Cornelius?", asked Zituke.

"That would be nice. I could bring along Spiky and we would eat sunflower seeds and watch you fight. It would be really entertaining. But don't start fighting just yet. Hold on.", said Cornelius.

Zituke was almost ready to protest but Cornelius ran away into the cabin.

When he entered their home, Cornelius started to shout, "Fight! Real fight!"

"What's the matter, Cornelius", said Spiky doing the salutation of the sun.

"You have to come outside! Zituke is going to fight Columba the dove because she is starting to have a crush on me..."

Pinky who was preparing for her harmony classes looked worried. "There will be no fights in Browneartopia! Not as long as there is plenty of potato peals..."

Dietrich who was playing cards with Betsy and was about to lose the 3rd time in a row said, "I wish someone would fight over me... Nobody cares about mice, except for mousetraps, of course."

Betsy said, "I wonder if they will fight to the death..."

Victor, sitting quietly in the lotus position in the dark corner of his cobweb said, "You go ahead without me. Somebody has to meditate."

So Pinky, Spiky, Cornelius, Dietrich and Betsy went outside to the garden and here is what they saw - Zituke and Colomba were eating sunflower seeds together in the birdhouse and drinking nettle soup Pinky cooked earlier. They looked real friendly together.

"Where is the fight?", asked Spiky.

"Yeah, Zituke, why aren't you fighting over me?", added Cornelius.

"There is no need to fight. Columba has a crush on me now."
