Short Tell-tales: A Heart Crushed By A Crush; Pt 10

...James knew things would drastically change, especially, with regards to how he and Anna comported themselves at work.
Before she opened up to him, they had been very close, and it was apparent to everyone at work. Even though both of them hadn't admitted to any of their colleagues, that they were dating, the suspicion was there.
However, with the new development - her being gay, James didn't know how he'd react to her when they are both in the office.
The week after Anna had opened up to him about her sexuality, James had been a bit cold towards her at the office.
He hadn't gone towards her station on the Monday and Tuesday of that week. Anna, obviously sensing his withdrawal, admittedly missed his company.
Anna decided to make the move to visit him and taunt him on Wednesday, when she was free. The chat was a bit awkward; as James didn't feel like talking.
She tried to tease him a bit, and he eventually loosened up and warmed up to her presence.
He however admitted to her that he was still uncomfortable with the fact that he had fallen for her, and yet, she had no such inclinations towards him.
Anna, then recanted her assurance of getting him hooked to a girl as soon as possible. James laughed at the idea, but knowing that he wasn't going to get Anna, he succumbed to her rhetoric.
Over the next few days, she kept to her promise, and her investigations of all the single ladies in the company began.
Anna visited James over lunch breaks and free periods to show him the cute dossier she had made of the single and eligible ladies in the company that would suit him.
The list included the various secretaries, office assistants and receptionists; most of whom already had an eye on James for a while, unbeknownst to him.
Asides Anna, who was unquestionably the most enchanting of all the ladies in the company, James eventually saw someone that he felt he'd fancy a date with.
When he pointed her out to Anna, Anna laughed, and yelled "Bravo, Jay".
She'd been hoping he'd spot the girl too, and he did. Isabel was her name, and she was the assistant to the HR Manager of the company.
According to feelers from Anna, Isabel was super single and hoping for a single chap like James to sweep her off her feet. Isabel also liked James, based on the information that Anna had found out from sources.
As awkward as it seemed, James began to flow with Isabel gradually. He and Anna remained close, after a few days of adjustment to their new status quo.
Brian's wedding was to take place the next weekend, and Brian had already done good by the company with pre-information and invitation.
Everyone was psyched about Brian's wedding because he was very much liked by all and sundry.
The week of the wedding, Anna asked James how things with Isabel were going, and he said "Fine", with a cheeky smile.
Anna, teased him and told him to take things easy and even though it had been a week he should make sure he doesn't mess things up with Isabel.
The discussion of Brian's wedding came up, and Anna wanted to go with James, but seeing as he'd be with Isabel, she offered to go on her own.
As much as he wanted to gradually forget Anna and phase her out of his subconscious, Anna remained special to James, and he eventually talked Isabel and Anna into joining him in his car to Brian's wedding.
On the D-day, he picked Isabel up first, and then headed to Anna's. On their way to Anna's, Isabel asked if he had been dating Anna.
James laughed and replied with a question, "Why do you ask?"
Isabel said, "I know it shouldn't matter, but gossip had been going around that you two were an item, at some point."
James, squashed her fears with a rather vague response of; "Well, we are very close. I like her, but not as much as I like you, Isabel"
"I chose you instead of her, or any other girl. So don't feel threatened or listen to whatever gossip you may hear."
"Anna and I never dated, and we are just friends", James added.
Even though she felt like asking more questions, she felt relieved with his response and was quite relaxed as they approached Anna's building.
After picking up Anna, Isabel decided within her that she'd find a way to also hear from Anna, to know if she had eyes for James too, just to collaborate James' story.
Hearing from Anna would put an end to her curiosity with regards to the office rumours. And hopefully, she can then forget it all and move on with James.
As they headed towards the church venue, Anna struck up a conversation with Isabel, and they got so chatty that it seemed they had been friends all the while.
Anna immediately liked Isabel. Isabel also felt same way towards Anna. Isabel already felt calm being around Anna, and hoped she'd find time at the wedding to have a private chat with Anna.
James couldn't help but wonder what was going on with both ladies, especially seeing how chatty and friendly they seemed.
James had been the one to officially introduce Isabel to Anna. And although both ladies were aware of each others existence in the company, but they had never really had the opportunity to speak with each other before.
So, it was a bit surprising to see them feeling so relaxed with each other and chatty like long time friends as they headed towards the church venue for Brian's wedding.
As awkward as it appeared to James, he actually admired the way the two lady's got along together, even though it was under strange circumstances.
He decided not to worry himself over that. He knew Anna cared for him, for the fact that she pushed him towards Isabel. Also, having the two ladies that meant a lot to him in his life happy, also made him happy.
And as they headed towards Brian's wedding, he knew things would work out just fine, eventually.

Huh!, this is getting rather interesting. Just a wild thought, what happens if Isabel is a bisexual, seeing how she and Anna are getting along, I can only imagine the outcome, but still we're yet to see how it turns out.
