OVER THE SILVER SKY TO THE WORLD OF NEVER : Part 253 - I'll Need At Least 5 Reasons Why I Shouldn't Kill Him.

HAPPY AS A PIG IN SHIT, WITH NOT A FUCK LEFT TO GIVE.

Yes I've decided to upset some more people today. I'm going to use the myth of the ALPHA MALE to extract the urine from even more dumb cunts. This could cause a major shit storm, because people (Men) who believe the myth tend to be quite delicate. Very touchy about their fantasy being made fun of. They need to cling to the lie otherwise the pointlessness of their lives is exposed. The myth first arose through the intensive study of a wolf pack. The term Alpha referring to the head female and male in the pack. Or as the other wolves call them, mommy and daddy. Yep that's right it's bullshit. The alpha female is most important to the pack. The alpha male is the most expendable member of the pack. Its first line of defense. If he dies, meh, he's had children his job is done. Then, believe it or not, those two alpha's, who have mated for life, will cheat on each other. A litter of wolf pups can have different fathers for the same litter. Dad will cheat just as much as mom. If the opportunity arises to spread their genes, thus increasing their chance of survival, they will take it. Humans are even more flexible. The alpha roles pass from one to another all the time depending on circumstances. Take the DJ who looks after his 3 small children all day while his wife teaches. He is the carer she is the earner. Then this "beta" male goes to his work at night. Where he controls hundreds of other people for several hours and earns more than his partner. In life any power structure that is too rigid will eventually collapse. It's not fit for purpose. One of the arguments the butt hurt alpha myth believing tards will make is, if there is no such thing as an alpha, why do I use the term? There's actually no such thing as a fish either. As any competent marine biologist will tell you. They still refer to scaly swimming things as fish though. Despite the fact it's the equivalent of calling everything that flies, a bird.

They'd called her Athena, was he extrapolating a hidden meaning where the wasn't any? According to Pippa he'd met her parents. Long before she was born to. Jake had no memory of this, it was all part of the foggy mess being the Wanderer produced. The need to know things without knowing them. Combined with the need not to know things that might disturb the timeline narrative. Presuming he'd had some influence over the choice of an unborn child's name, was a leap. Not unjustified. They could have been so impressed with him they'd done it as an acknowledgement of his awesomeness. Another floating thread he'd have to leave for now. Watching her though, that reinforced the impression. This young lady had all the qualities of the Greek goddess she was named after.

Even without full access to all those hidden memories, Jake knew he'd had clues planted before he even made it here to the Never. Many of which had been missed according to Raven and Angelique. The strong possibility being this was intentional on the part of a third party. Who at this point could be either Daisy or Scarlet. It might even be Pengelly or someone he'd never met. There'd been interference, that was beyond doubt. Attempts had been made to keep him off course. Some had been successful. And under all this was the knowledge that the actual culprit here, could be him. In several instances it already had been.

Fetu had stopped running a while ago. Taken a seat under another tree and closed his eyes. What was he seeing? That mysterious talent he had for reading the ocean, in particular. How did that work? It wasn't magic or technology. It worked everywhere, as far as he knew. Granted it could be intermittent and of variable use, it was still uncanny. Along with the way he and Sade were linked, it was an unsolvable puzzle. Best left alone. Accepted for what it was. An exceptional talent.

Pip had certainly done a great job with his new clothes. The body armor in particular. Apparently the microweave was even smaller than before. It would have stopped those native darts easily. That tickled some strand of thought he'd had previously. Something he'd noticed subliminally. It would gel in due course. The armor was also at least twice as tough as the previous set. Along with the improvements in his munitions this was another major upgrade. There was a new coat as well. A dark charcoal grey three quarter length garment, he was happy to wear. Jake couldn't wait to try it on.

"We've had a stroke of luck." Pip announced cutting into his reverie. "Thanks to all eyes turning to Ugo they've had to divert resources to tracking him. Leaving less to trace my work. Once they know where he's going that could deteriorate rapidly. Even if they only suspect it there could be some fireworks."
While she was talking to him, Pip managed to manipulate her data and listen to her headphones. He'd thought it would be her favorite music she was listening to. It was actually various intercepted radio traffic that used any of the key words she'd selected.
"I think we'll be fine for some reason. At least until Ugo lands here. After which we can have two days off." He joked.
"During which the different factions can bring in more troops and hardware. We could have three heavily armed clans poised to take whatever action they decide on. Ugo's hands are tied. All of his forces are aboard that flying building. It's not armored or armed either. If at any point the T'nanga team up with one or more of the others our problems could escalate rapidly."
She was examining him.
"What is it?" Jake inquired.
"Will you be able to kill people if you have to? Only, in the past you've been averse to taking lives. Even those of enemies who can be brought back to life. Once you terminate them, that's it. A lot of them will be women to."
"If there's no other choice then I'll have to won't I."
He'd hoped that would satisfy her concern. It didn't.
"Just to get this straight. There is no other choice Jake. Not where Debara and the T'nanga are concerned. You can't go out there with any reservations. It's you or them. And I'm determined to make every effort to ensure it's them. Get your head straight and around the fact. You're going to be killing a lot of people. Debara isn't going to take this lying down. If his own clan are disposable so are you. Only more so. The majority of those you'll be up against have had every last shred of humanity removed from them. They might be victims of Debara's own insanity, that doesn't change anything though."
He saluted her jovially. Only to receive another reproachful stare.
"I know. I'm trying not to think about it though. I assure you, when my life is in the balance I'll be throwing all of my weight onto my side of the scales. I have to be careful you see. I have to be constantly aware that as the Wanderer I've destroyed entire planets. Billions of people have died at my hand or because of decisions I've made. I have to be mindful to view them as living, breathing beings who loved, laughed and lived. Otherwise they could become inconsequential playthings."
"Like we all are to her you mean."
It hadn't been his intention to highlight that. There was no denying it was true. As far as they knew.
"If you like. I'm not better than anyone else. I'm not their superior. I'm just this guy who had the luck or misfortune to remember his past lives. To have a cursory understanding of the web of life and what it means. I don't want to become a monster, I've still done monstrous things despite that. It's why I try not to judge Scarlet or Daisy too harshly. For all I know their actions are the only things that have prevented me becoming an unfeeling demon."
She gave him a tight lipped smile before turning back to her duties.
"On a lighter note the occupants of the house have risen. Daisy, Pengelly and Taini have slowed down their recreational activities. Damn me though, Ydrie and the captain seem to be at it every waking minute. There wasn't this much boning on the ship. Nothing gets in the way of those two fucking it seems. Not even physical wear and tear." She pressed her hand to her ear. "I've got Ugo coming in for you. Tell the wily old bugger whats occurring. Let him know I'll be updating Daluchi constantly."
There was a smile of pleasure on her face.
"Daluchi? Is this someone I need to be jealous of? Who is this Daluchi?"
"She's Ugo's 19 times great granddaughter and head of intelligence for Clan Shucha. I think she's 24 and few other numbers as well. Mind like a steal trap, picks up things extraordinarily quickly. I gave her a few pointers on hacking and she's already got her best man working on it."
Oh her ears had gone pink.
"What's his name and I'll need at least 5 reasons why I shouldn't kill him."
"He's called Tanveer. He's 19. Daluchi's son if you must know."
After the serious conversation which preceded, this was a fertile seam to mine.
"Really handsome and muscular I'm thinking. He's going to the top of the hit list."
"Shut up, you shouldn't keep Ugo waiting."

For the first time since they'd initially made contact Jake was able to have a long conversation with the Grand Patriarch. Not without interruptions. As well as preparing for a ceremonial Communion with Daisy he was planning for a potential civil war. It was understandable. Jake was pretty sure he caught a glimpse of Tanveer, it was definitely his mother who was constantly updating the patriarch, and there was a family resemblance. He wondered if the young man would be present when they landed and Ugo invited the Matriarch into his domicile. Only to discover this was one of the reasons Ugo had contacted him. The ceremony required that no male be present. With the exception of Jake that was. As the one who'd brought Daisy to Fafindi he had a part in the little play. Jake had some objections. He hadn't been the only one involved in the trip to Fafindi. These were overruled. It was the convention. Only women could take part. For the purposes of this Jake would be considered an honorary woman All the men on board his flying castle would have to move out before Daisy could enter it.

There would be a short ritual where Jake handed over his charge. In return he'd receive certain gifts. Mere tokens Ugo advised. Nothing of any importance. In the remote past they'd been significant, now they were part of the ceremonial, symbolic of their long history in the Never. Jake had another try at getting out of it. In most ways, he told Ugo, Pip was the prime mover in all of this. Without her the meeting would not be taking place. Her contribution was greater than everyone else put together. Not hyperbole, the naked truth. Ugo then instructed him that Pip would be honored at the same time as him. Her attendance was mandatory. She'd be receiving tokens as well. In the general back and forth Ugo came up with a question of his own. One that he'd left till now.

"When this is over, what's going to prevent someone entering the ship? They could access all of that technology including the monitoring. That's something I would be wary of. I don't like being watched all the time as it is and that's mostly by people I know, and machines."
Good question.
"It would not be in anyone's interest to try to extract technology or information from the ship. When it decelerated from several times the speed of light to a few thousand kilometers an hour, it absorbed an enormous amount of energy. I don't think entering the ship would cause a problem, but if they tried to access its data or attempted to reverse engineer its technology this would cause it to self destruct. Although that's a big if. Most of the Ustraski tech will be completely incompatible with yours. So it would take decades of research to even start down that road. This isn't intended to scare you or warn you off Ugo, I assure you. Should this ship self destruct it would take out this entire continent in a flash. The shock wave would travel a very long way to. Like I said. The odds of anyone being able to access the workings and recordings are extremely low."
The patriarch whistled then grinned.
"Well that's one of the first things I'll need to bring up after this all boils over. Ydrie and Taini, might they prove to be a problem?"
"Not in my opinion. They are good decent people. It's a shame all this has landed on them. By the way when I first saw you, but didn't contact you, how did you know you were being watched."
Ugo assumed an innocent, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, expression.
"I don't know what you mean Jake. How could I possibly know you were looking over me? Even if I did, a man has to have some secrets."
