How did the Slavs find themselves on the territory of Bulgaria

in #story5 years ago (edited)

happened as a result of the advent of Khan Asparuh to these lands, who brought with him a great-Mongol tribe, who mixed with the local Slavic tribes. However, these Slavic tribes also did not always live here.

------------

The Slavs were the main ethnic part in the formation of the Bulgarian nation. According to Latin and Byzantine authors, they occupied vast territories north of the Danube between the Carpathians and the Baltic Sea. At the time of the Great Migration of Nations after the onset of the Huns, the Slavs found themselves under a strong onslaught and settled, divided into three groups: western, eastern and southern.

In the second half of the fifth century, the southern Slavs occupied the land from Lake Balaton to the Danube Delta, becoming direct neighbors of the Byzantine Empire and began devastating campaigns against its rich provinces.

The invasions of the Slavs became especially strong under Emperor Justinian. At the end of the sixth and the beginning of the seventh centuries, the Slavs undertook several sieges of Solun (present-day Thessaloniki) and densely settled the central and eastern lands of the Balkan Peninsula. "Seven Slavic tribes" were settled between the Danube and the Stara Planina mountain range, to the west of them are the Tymochane and Moraviani (Serbia), in Macedonia, Strymyane, Dragovites, Rinhins, verzits and others, the Rhodopes settled Smolensk

Slavs to Asparuhovaya Bulgaria (375g. - 680g.)

The main agricultural product was millet, barley and wheat. Also, the Slavs raised large and small cattle, sculpted coarse ceramics, made simple metalworking and dugout boats. But under the influence of Byzantium, they quickly improved their skills in the manufacture of weapons, woodworking, weaving and construction.

Byzantine authors describe the Slavs as tall, fair-haired, strong and enduring, violent and unrestrained, but hospitable people arranging feasts with mead and beer from millet.

Their dwellings looked like dugouts or semi-dugouts covered with straw and twigs.

They were armed with bows and arrows, sometimes soaked in poison, as well as spears and wooden shields. Initially, they did not keep the battle formation, but gradually assimilated the military art of the Romans and prabolgar, and began to use chain mail, swords, cavalry and siege vehicles.

Slavs worshiped such gods as Perun, Svarog, Dazhbog and Lada, believed in mermaids and spirits. The dead were burned and buried in ceramic urns.

Within the borders of Byzantium, Christianity spread among the Slavs, and thus they began to submit to the empire. To survive, they sought to create tribal unions. The political unification of the Slavs with the Slavs of the Bulgarian group happened much faster than the Western Serbian-Croatian group, due to the formation of a state organization under the leadership of the Bulgarians, that is, the First Bulgarian Kingdom in 681.
