Story: Matthew and the Dragons (Part XLIII)
Part XLIII
The crimson dragon looked at the city coldly. He could feel the presence of several great dragons inside, which made him frown with displeasure. "How dare they protect the one's this king sought to destroy!" Is the thought that ran in his mind.
For the former dragon king, the dragonkind's action was akin to a rebellion. "So what if he destroyed those fool on that continent? They deserved to be destroyed for trying to challenge the dragon's supremacy!" He said while fuming in anger.
Meanwhile inside the city...
"He's still not attacking?" A chubby man asked impatiently.
This man is the mayor of the said city. One of the kingdom's biggest cities. Yes, the same kingdom that fought a war against the dragons not too long ago.
"Why so impatient? Are you in a hurry to see your city destroyed?" Asked a green scaled dragon.
The mayor looked at the green dragon, and simply smiled after hearing the dragon's sarcasm.
"Obviously, I prefer if he doesn't attack, and just leave. But as you could see he just float in the sky like a fool. If he's gonna attack, then just attack! He's making the citizens uneasy for his indecision!" Answered the mayor heartilly.
"Weirdo! Everyone in this kingdom are weirdoes! Most people would be shaking on their boots just hearing of dragon's attack but you guys seemed to be enjoying it!" The green dragon blurted.
The other great dragon's listening to the conversation nods in agreement. Indeed, this people of the kingdom are weirdoes, especially that young inventor who could take out tools after tools, depending on the situation!
"Hur hur! That's a rude thing to say!" The mayor exclaimed with a hearty laugh.
The green dragon, and the other dragons present can't help but facepalmed at the mayor's antics. But then one of the soldiers observing the crimson dragon yelled, "he's about to attack!"
The mayor, and the dragons stopped bickering. They then looked at the part of the sky where the crimson dragon is. And, as the soldier said, he is indeed about to attack.
The mayor did not panic, and ordered the large fire bringers with the special ammunition to fire the moment the crimson dragon attacked.
"Let this flame cleanse the land of your filth, you dirty humans!" The crimson dragon roared as he inhales with all his might.
"He's about to use dragon breath!" The green dragon exclaimed. But as he was about to make a move he heard the mayor yell his order.
"Gunners, ready the large firebringers, intercept him! Fire!"
The gunners do what they are ordered, and fire. Then several gunshots are heard.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
ROOOOAAAARRRRR!?!?!
Several large bullets manages to hit the crimson dragon, effectively stopping him from unleashing his dragon breath. The bullets also penetrated his tough scales but was stopped by the crimson dragon's skin beneath. Nonetheless, the attack was so painful that the crimson dragon roar in anger, and humiliation.
The great dragons flinched as if they are the ones hit by the bullets. Though most of them did not participate in the previous war. Those who did, and survived told of the horrifying power of those bullets, and the pain it causes.
"Damn it! We need to put a stop to the crimson dragon as quickly as possible so that these damn weapon could be seal!" Was the thought of every great dragons present.
Meanwhile the crimson dragon flew higher in an effort to evade whatever is attacking him.
"Are those the damn weapons that defeated the dragons in the previous war? How.could such weapons exist?" The crimson dragon exclaimed as he tries to endure.the pain.
"If it were the previous me, I could have destroyed this city without them even noticing. Fine then! Since breath attacks are innefective in this range, I'll use my speed to subdue this city!" He declared as he swoop down like a hawk!
