Street Photography in the burlesque district of Paris

Everyone is familiar with the moulin rouge thanks to that one Nicole Kidman movie that romanticised it. Now whenever you go past it there is a long line down the street to get in. Whether that is a reflection on the popularity of the place do to being well known or due to the quality of the show I do not know.. I never went in myself.. though I'd like to. It would be an interesting experience.

Anyway, just down the road from the Moulin Rouge things start to like a bit more 'real' and visceral. If you keep walking you will encounter shop after shop that deals in the 'accessories' of erotica.. and of course the worlds oldest profession.. its totally Paris' red light district .. complete with red lights! Its mostly sex shops and theatres that either do burlesque performances or peep shows. We may have still been a little too early to see any of the action, but if its anything like Amsterdam, the peep shows will be popular with middle aged asian men (they were the only ones we saw going into the peep shows).

People are weird and kinky... it reminds me of rule 34: "if you can imagine it, there's porn of it". Some things should just not be imagined at all.
