The Italian Seaside - Grottomare's Beach Promenade

Summer is in full swing. Its hot, the sun is out, and all my colleagues in the office are bemoaning the fact that here in the UK we don't have AC in most places, like our office :/

Sitting here watching the sun shining outside and watching people pass by the windows in the summer outfits makes me wish I was back at the Italian seaside.... and since I have been posting about Italy the last few days it seemed appropriate to keep going.

Along the eastern coast of Italy there is a lovely seaside town/resort called 'Grottomare'. It's like being transported back to the 1960s as so little has changed since then. The architecture is classic 60s Italy and the beach promenade looks like something from one of those old summer fling movies.

The promenade itself is spotless. You can tell that it is well maintained.. of course we were there while it was relatively quiet, so I'd imagine it gets a little messier when the crowds are in town. The beach is covered in parasols and sun loungers .. endless rows of them. There are also lots of little beach shacks like the ones pictured above that can be rented for the day. I love the classic dutch bike parked up against them.

And of course there are eateries dotted all over the promenade, most of which have nautical/beach themes to their external decor. I don't know about the interiors though as we didn't eat there.. we did get some gelato. You can't go to Italy in the summer.. or any time of year for that matter and not try gelato!
