MM Photography series: "Unknown"

This road to unknown can take my imagination and train of thoughts in many different ways. Old, used road, contrast of shadow and sunlight, green and blue; almost can be seen as two different pictures.

First thing that I see in this picture is the difference between two horizontal planes that are in contrast. Top plane has somewhat separated background so the picture actually consisted of three planes. Main focus is on the road but the first thing that draws the eye is strong sunlight and tree branches as they occupy most of the picture space. Green and blue have gentle transfer because of the brown color of the branches and make it as a wholesome relatively warm. Bottom part of the picture is much darker and shadows fit nicely with the road color.

Roads have always represented life to me; urban, rural and raw with the smell of concrete, especially when there is sunshine after rain. I grew up on the piece of asphalt. It made me harder when I fell on him, it was a part of me when the small rocks stuck up under my skin after the fall. He has kissed my face when we were lying there, drunk or beaten up. We were best friends for some time as he played basketball with me.

The spiral concept of this picture is the main thing that draws my attention, it’s like all the life is just twistedly pulled away.
