Welcome to #SublimeSunday a tag presenting you with the unique opportunity to post something a bit different, wacky, crazy or just whatever takes your fancy and instigated by me @c0ff33a ☕️
First up though is a #beautifulsunday (hosted by @ace108) photo with a #funkyedit (hosted by @krazypoet) with Saturation to the Max.
So today while visiting my Dad we took a walk into his local town Brighouse to watch a battle of the bands contest. The Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band is quite well known, and in todays contest 30 bands from small towns around the region will all be playing to hopefully win the competition.
All the bands have to queue up waiting for their turn to play.
The town centre road is closed off so the bands can March down the street to main square where they will play.
At the main square, many people have come prepared with their own chairs so they can sit and listen to the bands.
This is Hebden Bridge Band
They march and play all the way round to the main square
Those whisps of cloud are not reducing the temperature, it's boiling hot today so that playing has to be even harder.
That big drum was super loud, ear splitting in fact.
That little fella was doing a great job blasting out a tune on his trumpet.
Soon we can see them playing for the judges.
You can see the trophies to the left, all waiting to be won.
From the other side, the judges are inside the tent keeping cool while marking the performance.
And a different band playing, we only watched a few play - 30 would be a little to much!
And then a stroll back home to have our Sunday lunch.
And a #FunkyEdit to finish, this relatively mundane car park photograph has had a Funky Facelift.

the funky facelift is a good ending to very crisp, almost life-like pictures.. must be cool to experience those bands in person.

I love to listen to the sounds of a marching band. I played the flute and piccolo for years (and years) and have had my share of marching. Oh, such endurance those youngsters have in this heat!

Wait....does this mean you are now having a Vacation from being on Vacation? How long do we get, a day? Couple of days. Do you start getting the shakes when you haven't had the Vacation for a few weeks?
It is super hot in the UK, quite beyond anything I can ever remember - especially the consistent length of time - normally we might get the odd hot day with clouds and rain between - but it's been stupidly hot for weeks.
You have a great week too, washing, ironing, packing the suitcases....

At least they are not wearing long sleeves.
Thank you, yes a very good description - I think some of the bigger wind instruments were hard work on such a hot day - but they kept working at it.

Music can be very relaxing, but that big drum was ear splitting! I did think about doing a short video of the Marching band but in the end didn't get chance (too distracted)

It is always a good day that includes music! It is ridiculously hot and humid here, too. The north woods feel like a tropical rain forest! Love your funky edit. I tried one this week, too.
They certainly were impressive musicians, but 30 bands was a little too much it took a good 15 minutes per band so starting at Midday I think they finished by 8pm in the end. Looking forward to checking out your #FunkyEdit
