If you guys don't know who Ali Kabbani (aka Myth) is, I completely understand. He's a huge celebrity in the video game world right now, but I'm pretty sure not too many people know about him outside of the community. To give you a quick rundown, he currently is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch.tv playing the game, Fortnite.

So you may be asking why I choose to write about him on this blog post. The reason is that I love stories about people who followed their dreams and did whatever they had to do in order to succeed. This is exactly what Myth did.

The video explains everything. But to summarize: Myth graduated high school and although he was accepted into college, he made the decision to focus on becoming a video game streamer. Understandably, his mother states that she was completely against the decision and argued with her son about it. Regardless of what anyone told him, he put his heart into what he his work and became on the most successful Twitch streamers on the platform today. His evolution as a player, streamer, and business person has been live-streamed to the world over the past year and it has been incredible.

If you go on my Twitter, you will see that my pinned Tweet is, "Don't let a 20th-century mentality affect your decisions in the 21st century." I still firmly believe this.

There are so many opportunities available to people who are open-minded and receptive to them. Streaming on Twitch.tv is a great example! For people who don't understand the current rise in popularity of eSports and streaming, they may see Twitch as a stupid waste of time. But for someone that is involved in the Twitch community and is active on the platform, they see Twitch as a valid income opportunity. In Myth's example, his mom did not understand that gaming for fun and streaming it on a platform like Twitch gives the player the potential to make some money.

In regards to the whole education thing and Myth making the decision to not pursue a college career, I believe it was the best decision for him. I firmly believe that education is extremely important. But I believe education can come from multiple sources. For Myth, the decision of pursuing a streaming career was solid in his mind and he knew what he had to do in order to become successful. For other people, going to college is an absolute must do.

Taking all of this into consideration, I applaud Myth for his decision on taking his life's journey into his own hands. He made his choice to pursue a streaming career and he let his success speak for itself. If you are ever in a position like Myth where you have loved ones or others doubting you, the best thing you can do is make sure your success gains their support. You're going to have to face the consequences of your decisions for the better or worse. If you have a goal in mind, make sure you don't let the thought of failure enter your mind. Focus on the task at hand and let your actions speak louder than words.
