Our Family Celebrates the Feast of Sukkot

Every year on the 15th day of the 7th month (on the biblical calendar) we camp outdoors in temporary dwelling places for one week. Sometimes we do this in our backyard and meet with locals, but some years we travel to be with other believers for this time.

This year, we traveled to Arkansas to spend the week on the homestead and experience life off-grid for a week.

The Journey South-West

September 19th - 20th Thursday and Friday

We left early in the morning on Thursday for our 900 mile journey over two days. We drove all day through Saint Louis and stayed at a hotel in Missouri.

@lturner got a great shot of the arch in Saint Louis out the car window!

Crossing the mighty Mississippi!

We had special wristbands for the children to help with car sickness.

Stopped several times to let the children run around.

Daniel got to sit in the grass outside for a little rest.

Arriving on the Homestead.

It was just raining off and on when we arrived.

Our platform trailer couldn't go up the steep mountain without scrapping the ground - we had to make two trips.

We brought six totes of supplies in our trailer.

On the top of the mountain, setting up camp. We left the totes at the bottom of the mountain.

We set up camp in the rain. Thankfully, we had some help from our neighbors!

Celebrating Shabbat on the Homestead

It was rainy and dark, but we still pulled ourselves together to honor God's Holy day with bread and wine. We sang songs around our little table and enjoyed some excellent food.

"Say Happy Camping! Say Shabbat Shalom!"

We had made the 900 mile journey and were ready to celebrate Sukkot on the Homestead!

Great to see pictures from your travels!

Our family celebrated Sukkot in the north. It was cold. I'm seriously considering moving to the Ozarks... a warmer Sukkot is actually a significant factor in my decision making process!

It was 90 degrees before we arrived, about 50 degrees and raining after we arrived! We brought some Michigan weather down with us!

Sukkot last year in Michigan was chili, but dressing warm and hot chocolate helps a bunch.

I’m so glad I got a chance to meet y’all! I look forward to seeing y’all again! In th meantime, If you have any tips on getting me Steemit up and going or want to add me as a friend on Catan Universe, let me know!

Wanna take on the Catan 2018 Homestead Champion? :-)
