Banana Roti in Thailand
The first time I tried Roti was in Malaysia. Roti Canai is pretty famous between the Malay-Indian community and usually is served with different types of curry, as breakfast or snack. Since the Indian community is not so strong in Thailand, I didn’t expect that Rotis are also famous here. You can find a street food stall serving Rotis without any difficulties. In Thailand, however, this pancake is not served with curries, but with bananas, eggs or cheese. You can find a big variety of Rotis in Thailand and, as in Malaysia, they are simply delicious.
Roti on the streets
As I mentioned it’s not hard to find street food stalls or even adapted motorbikes selling rotis on the streets. One curious thing is that most of the time, the rotis are prepared by Muslim families and it’s considered as Halal food (food that is prepared in accordance with the Qur'an).
This stall that is located on the street is really good! The lady barely speaks English but she’s very nice and friendly.
In the stall, she also works with her mom and she does the rotis with and incredible ability!
Banana roti and egg roti
The most famous flavor of Roti in Thailand is eggs with banana, served with condensed milk. I love eggs, I love bananas, but in terms of Rotis I like it separately. So I ordered one with bananas and Nutella sauce and I also ordered another one just with eggs. Both were amazing!
Roti is a kind of street food you cannot miss in Thailand and also in Malaysia. Even the recipe is very similar and the preparation either, both countries have delicious and creative ways to make this pancake an amazing thing!
