74 Ice Bar | Tasteem Review
Ever tried having drinks in a iced cold room at a temperature of -20 degrees.. Nor have I until two weeks back when I was conducting a site inspection for a client on the 74th floor of Landmark 81 in HCMC.
74 Ice Bar opened two weeks back and have been the highlight to many people in HCMC. Firstly, it's one of its kind in this country, and perhaps in SEA too. It's called 74 because it's located on the 74th floor of Landmark 81, the tallest building in SEA.
Imagine having to wear winter jacket from top to bottom before going into the cold room. To keep oneself warm, drinking alcohol ( any hard liquor ) is a MUST! The alcohol keep the body warm for a few minutes if I may say so. It's difficult to even keep the fingers warm, whatmore taking a few photos of the surrounding.
The cold room can only take up to 30 persons each time and it is advised to stay for a maximum of 30 minutes each time. The entire area is build on ice blocks, even the bar counter, bar stools and decorations. I was told that a specific crew was brought in from Sri Lanka to carve the ice into the shapes because it was just too cold for any ordinary carpenters.
I stayed on for not more than 5 minutes and took a shot of tequila which made no impact to getting me drunk since it was so cold inside the room. As much as I wanted to take photos of the drinks served to us but with the temperature, I was lucky that I even caught these photos.
I would go back to 74 Ice Bar again but I'll be sure to wear something more thicker and pantsuit too. That way I can lasts more than 5 minutes :)
