ENGLISH

La Isleta is a truly incredible place; seriously, especially if we consider that in all Panama it’s not easy to find restaurants offering good value for money.
At La Isleta, however, the owners (Arturo & Roberto) managed to make a miracle, proposing a gourmet cuisine in the midst of Chiriquí province lush nature.

The restaurant owes its name to the small island (La Isleta means little island) located in the middle of the river where, actually, two rivers join, Rio Santiago and Rio Tolè, which pass through the entire property, a corner of paradise where it’s possible to taste the excellent food of the two chefs, but also enjoy outdoor activities organized by the restaurant itself such as fishing, kayaking, bird watching, simple walks or horseback rides.

Customers are usually welcomed and served at the tables directly by the owners/chefs, who know how to please their guests offering them a great food experience based on simple ingredients of the Panamanian tradition, without forgetting an international touch.

Roberto, the main chef, speaks both Spanish and English and he is also a painter, while Arturo, the dessert specialist, if you are lucky, will delight you with the singing of his very powerful baritone voice as long as you are enjoying your courses, proposing a couple of songs taken from his repertoire.
Isleta's dishes are mainly prepared with organic ingredients from the cultivations in the property, including seafood, which is fished in the mangrove bay located between the river and the Pacific Ocean waves.

In the menu of the day you will find easily, in addition to the fish-based dishes, also beef, chicken and pork courses, with rice and salad as side dish; to be mentioned "tasajo", beef smoked with a certain type of local wood, but also delicacies obtained from the meeting of beans and fried plantains, avocado, local cheese and everything that can be prepared artfully with Chiriquí typical products. Last but not least, you will find wonderful soups and vegetarian/ vegan options.

There’s plenty of exotic fruits and sylvan vegetables, sometimes quite rare even here in Panama, for example “the ackee”, a fruit also called "the vegetable egg", which grows on beautiful trees in the "garden of wonders" of la Isleta restaurant.
The icing on the cake is not a dessert (although those are certainly delicious), but a crocodile. Yes, you got it right, a semi-domestic crocodile that lives in the waters near the restaurant and that it’s called Totto.

This is an unmissable destination if you decide to spend some time in the area, but also the perfect place for a stopover if you are traveling on the Pan-American Highway.

ITALIANO

What a lovely spot, and the food all looks delicious. I really appreciate different photos for your translation. Great idea for us scrolling through. The big bowl of salad would tempt me the most, it all looks great.

I did not know food was expensive in Panama, I thought the region had inexpensive food.

There are many options, very cheap and pretty expansive. Just to understand what you are looking for 😉
