The Tasty Black Squid Adobo

The other day at Daku island, we had a great spread of sea food spread for our lunch by the lovely locals after an early morning of Surfing and Island hoping.

We chilled by the beach as we had this , jamming to some island music and generally loving ,living, enjoying nature and loving it.

As seen from the photo, we had fish, squid, pork, sea Urchins and the squid Adobo.
The most foreign thing for me here was the Sea Urchins (i did not know people.eat those things) and the squid adobo.

The sea urchins is raw i think, and they just removed the insides , and it just looked like a pot of brains, thats what @cheft said.
They mixed some soy sauce and vinegar to enhance the flavour but to me it just tasted like raw liver , i did not enjoy it much, the locals seemed to love it. They call it tujom in Surigaonon or tuyom in Bisaya.

However, the winning viand for me was unexpectedly the Squid adobo. first impression of it was not impressive at all, i told. my self there is no way i am putting that black stuff in my mouth.

But i (we) fell in love at first bite, glad i endeavored to give it a try, i think i had the most of it, and my teeth had black patches after the meal. It was soo good, you would never imagine it was served black.
I asked what was the black stuff and they said it was the squid ink, i had no idea of this, glad i got to also learn that about these creatures.
I love squid Adobo.
Have any of you tried eating squid? How do you prepare it?

That food looks ugly as sin but squid Adobo is an appetizing dish! A good cook can make it very delicious.

you made me laugh out soo loud at this comment, one thing i have learnt is that the ugliest looking foods are the yummiest.

oh yes, sea foods are relatively cheap here in the Philippines.
