"Al Halabi Gourmet Restaurant" Restaurant review by @redpalestino
Yesterday I visited the Al Halabi Gourmet Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
The Al Halabi offers fantastic dishes in a great ambience with a focus on oriantal cuisine.
What particularly pleased me was that the restaurant not only served the typical dishes like kebab and hommus.
Hommus is served in 6 different variations. Also very unusual dishes are served which are hardly to be found in normal oriantal restaurants. There are also some Indian dishes on the menu.
Especially vegetarians don't miss out here, there are many vegetarian dishes on offer. Especially delicious is the freshly baked bread that is served with every dish.
A really great restaurant which I can highly recommend. I will come back in any case.

meine Augen sind für einen kurzen Moment geschlossen. Ich versuche mich ganz auf den Duft zu konzentrieren, der wie eine warme Glocke über dem Restaurant liegt, da mir dieser orientalische Geruch verschiedenster Speisen kein bisschen fremd ist.
Und trotzdem rolle ich das Feld sozusagen von hinten auf.
Die Messing-Kännchen (ich gehe mal davon aus, dass es sich um Cesva handelt) werden wohl mit einem vorzüglichen Mokka gefüllt. Aber was wandert in die Kupfergefäße?
Wieder lasse ich meinen Vermutungen freien Lauf und deute die Rouladen als gefüllte Kohlblätter, ein Gericht welches dann als Sarma bezeichnet wird. Wenn nicht, kläre mich auf! Wenn ja - dann extrem lecker (auch noch am Tag danach aufgewärmt).
Den Reis unter der Barbe (wenn es eine ist) hätte ich durch einen Couscous mit viel Aubergine und Tomate ersetzt. Aber das ist Geschmacksache. Die Hauptrolle spielt sowieso der Fisch.
Die dünnen Fladen mit den Dips - Das absolute Pflichtprogramm!
Lediglich bei der Vorspeise hätte sich wohl das Servicepersonal nicht ohne Diskussionen mit mir aus der Affäre ziehen können. Graue Kieselsteine auf grüne Erbsen mit einer verloren gegangenen Tomate - ich weiß nicht recht :-)
Ach so, beinahe ganz vergessen, dieselbe Tomate lag doch bereits auf dem Nudelgericht mit Fleisch. Da hättest du sie bereits verköstigen müssen. Dann wäre sie später nicht immer wieder in den Vordergrund gerückt worden.
Zusammenfassend:
Außer den Kieselsteinen wäre wohl auch alles Andere so auf meinem Teller gelandet. Da Kuala Lumpur nicht gerade auf meiner Wegstrecke liegt, versuche ich es demnächst in Istanbul oder Sarajevo.
