Something nice and warm for winter

Now the weather has started to turn a bit cold, I like coming to this restaurant every week. It specialises in duck cooked in herbal soup which keeps you nice and warm.

Like most eateries in Taiwan, the cooking area is located outside the shop making it very convenient for people to come by for takaway on their scooters. I guess it also helps to attract customers. They don't do many dishes here, and they have everything on the sign outside the shop.

I ordered the pork knuckle noodle in herbal soup, which actually didn't come with many pieces of pork knuckle, so that was a slight disappointment. My wife ordered the duck in herbal soup. Both came with glass noodle. In addition, we ordered another portion of the duck. You'll notice there is quite a lot of ginger on the top, that's to balance the herbal soup, a bit like yin and yang, essential in Chinese herbal medicine.

Like most eateries in Taiwan, this is a semi self service place, and you pick up the cutlery and any other condiments yourself. That's on this little table at the front of the shop. The cabinet you see is where they store the cutlery, it's supposed to be sanitised, but I don't think they switched the function on.

I didn't take photos of the rest of the shop as it's only a small place with three other tables There were customers on the two other tables, so I couldn't take a photo without being intrusive.

Anyway, the herbal soup is great to keep you nice and warm in winter so I will be coming every week now.
