Breakfast at the Château de Berne pt.3 (Provence, France)
The morning rises with the sun beaming through the window pane, glistening the crystal water glasses laid out on tables across the mid-century floor. The crisp white table linen is immaculately hanging over each table top, creating a white canvas as silverware, and wooden salt and pepper shakers set themselves ready to greet hungry morning humans.

The breakfast / brunch is not like other 5 star restaurant chains with immense varieties of international food, whereas the Château de Berne proudly presents quality meal with local delicacies and the taste of homemade goodies ranging from breakfast eggs of choice, selection of local jams and honey, cold cuts, local cheese, and bread.

The health bar
A wide selection of granolas, cornflakes, oatmeal, nuts, dried fruits to go with your milk or homemade yoghurt. None of the items mentioned were rearranged to a glass canister from a commercial cornflake box. Each option was created with the flavor in mind, not too sweet as they provided honey add ons for those who enjoy a sweet kick in the morning.
The honey
This is what really wowed us and awed us. Not only did the house on the table contain an actual honey comb that you could pick the honey right out of, but there were 8 different tastes of locally created honey which tasted so much better than jam. The actual variations are faint as it was in French, but some of the outstanding ones were lavender, strawberry, and nuts. These honey went with everything from your oatmeals, bread, and coffee.
The butterrrrrrrr...
My latest recollection of a hotel that amazed me with their breakfast was Le Méridien, Bangkok. Their homemade butter made any bread come to life. Ever since then, I have a soft side for good butter in hotels, and always end up enjoying the entire meal.
Château de Berne's butter was no ordinary butter. Their locally sourced butter was extra creamy and the smell of butter rising from your bread as you crunch into your baguette made it outstanding. So good that your worries melted away with the butter.
The Drinks are on the house
Their breakfast served champagne, rosé wine from their vineyard, and a variety of juice. Free flow of champagne is always a good start to your morning.
