Food Sharing #104 - Parisa @ Doha, Qatar

Hi Everyone,

During our stay in Doha, we wanted to try something local and we found a really cool fancy restaurant at the famous Souq Waqif. The entrance to the restaurant was super shiny and you would feel like a super star walking down the catwalk!

Let’s have a look at the menu first. The menu is in English but some things weren't very clear so we had to ask the waiter to explain to us some of the their local ingredients in case it is chilli for the kids etc.

We ordered a platter for 2 and Khoresht Bamiyeh which is a lamb stew with rice. The platter for 2 also comes with rice so there is enough for us and the 2 kids. They also gave us a small entree which was like a sandwich roll to me. As for drink, my other half ordered a Person style refresher drink but forgot which one he chose, for me a fresher that tasted like lemon ice tea and a bottle of water.

The restaurant was quite dark therefore the photos are darker than usual. The taste is a bit stronger than the food I normally cook or used to. The flavours were very rich and the lamb surprising very nice as I don’t eat a lot of lamb. The platter was a bit small for 2 people so it is recommended to order something else so you won’t leave hungry.

The interior of the restaurant was just stunning. Everything was super shiny and it had a really tall ceiling which made you feel really comfortable. Service was average - maybe because only some staff could understand English so they mostly avoided our table apart from one guy who served us. They even had live music on the night! Price of the dishes were on the expensive side as we are in a popular tourist spot but for the chance to see this nice restaurant, it was worth it.
