Food Sharing #67 - Yayoi Japanese Restaurant @ Chatswood, Sydney

Hi Steemians,

Today I would like to take you to a Japanese Teishoku Resturant in Sydney called Yayoi. Yayoi started with one restaurant Sydney and the last few years due to its popularity, they have opened a few stores around Sydney. There are not many teishoku restaurants in Sydney and Yayoi serves some really good food especially those who love Japanese food. Teishoku (定食) in Japanese means set meals and this is what Yayoi provides. Let’s first look at some parts of the menu.

There is currently a promotion where you can get kids set for half price. I went with my mum so we both ordered an eel set and the kids both a small udon which is complimentary if any adult meal of over $15 is ordered. As our meal have a soup, we didn’t order any drinks. Here comes out meal!

There are a few ways you can eat the eel set. The rice is in a special pot which should keep the rice warm while we eat. There is an instruction card to suggest how you can eat the set. You can eat it as it is, mix it with some condiments or use the soup provided and mix it with the rice. We ordered another clam soup with the set meal for a small price.

The food here is always of high quality but the price is considered on the expensive side. Service is a hit and miss depending who you get but overall it is not bad, just not like the Japanese service you get in Japan. Even though the kids had a complimentary udon, the size was on the smaller end so they were still hungry after their bowl of noodles. They are 3 and 1 year old so even though they are not that old, the noodles were not enough.
