Plastic Bag Ban in Australia

in #teamaustralia6 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians,

On the 1st of July, many states in Australia have started the plastic bag ban. In Sydney, major supermarkets have started but the public seemed to be not too happy with the new change. I have a habit of starting to bring own bags over a week ago so today I’ll show you what options supermarkets provide to their customers. Many countries in the world have already put laws in place to ban plastic bags so it was quite interesting to see many Australians actually don’t like this change.

YES!!! I love hearing about this sort of thing!

I remember traveling from Uganda into Rwanda and immediately noticing the difference in everything around me (no plastic bags or bottles in Rwanda).

yes thats right, i'm sure everyone will eventually get used to bringing their own bags to the supermarkets

Finally they banned it in Australia. Thats a good thing. It was crazy how many plastic bags some people carried out of Coles and Woolies

yeah its true. they are slowly banning it. to be honest it took me awhile to get us to it as well

I'm really surprised that it took Australia so long to start this

what have i been telling you all along, we are more behind than many countires la hahaha

In Penang, Malaysia, all shopping complex been ban for using the plastic bag since last year. Anyone who still want to use it, they will be charged for 20 cents on each plastic bag. The good news is the every cashier counter they do sell recycle bag which cost 50 cents only.

Now the new Malaysian government even started the nationwide initiative in May 2018. Glad to see another country is following this as well.
