Folk Stories : "Tontolob" a.k.a The big stone

It's been 3 days in a row I writing the folklore stories, you can read it here ;

Folk Stories : "Bunian"


Did you ever heard that a big rock (we call it "tontolob ) usuall had the waiting ghost or "penungguh". Means someone or something wait/live there and hunting the life of human but not everyday, usually during full moon or one in a years...

Today stories I had heard from my father...

There a big rock placed inside of the river located in my village. The villagers in the past, threw away drunken colonizers in the river near the big rock automatically drown them...It happen more than 50 years ago.

So it is said that the cause of drowning especially children near big rock areas often occur every year. There are witnesses say that her leg been pulled down, she saw there are white with a black hand. Luckily for her, someone saw her and help pull back out..

There is also a story about a woman with her child is seen sitting on the large stone by the river. The child drown and the mother try to save her child but also drown. Soon, the figure mother and child always been seen arount the big stone...


But there were one big stone now become attraction to the visitors around Sabah.. Located few Kilometers from my village, there was
